Attendance Well done to Year 6 who received the £10 in assembly on Friday. Their attendance for the week was a very impressive ….. School attendance % last week was: 97.5% Our attendance % for this year currently stands at : 96.6% - this time last year it stood at 96.8%. Our target of 97% is still achievable. Lets make it happen! Match Attaks Just a reminder that children are not allowed to bring Match Attaks cards into school – it causes too many problems with the children wanting to swop them! FOMG Update The FOMG met Monday of last week to start organising and planning for MagStock - our major fundraiser of the year for the school. In past years we have always made a good sum of money (well over a £1,500.00 pounds) so PLEASE put the date in your diary Sunday 26 th June 1pm – 5pm. We will send a letter home in the next couple of weeks but please be thinking of how YOU can HELP your child and school. We will need volunteers to set up, man stalls and clear up on the day. If you run a business can you provide a raffle prize? If you produce craft would you like a stall to sell your wares? 10% per stall and a raffle prize. (cards, jewellery, home wares, decorations etc) Please look out for the letter over the next couple of weeks and if you can help ask to speak to a FOMG or come along to our next meeting – dates in the newsletter and on the boards – 23 rd May at 2:15pm. We also have a Facebook page where you can drop us a message and a Twitter feed soon to be up and running. Many thanks. Weekly Newsletter: MAGDALEN GATES PRIMARY SCHOOL 100%

Small Reminder about Pick up TimesWe are very lucky to have so many great after school clubs in our school. These include homework club, Ukulele club, cook & art club and many more. Most of these clubs are run by volunteers so please ensure if your child/children use these clubs you collect them on time. If you are going to be unavoidably late please call the school office to let us know ASAP. Thank you.

Absences from SchoolThere are times when our children are genuinely ill and are not fit for school but there are days when an encouraging word from mum or dad will make all the difference – A few sniffs and sneezes should not stop our children going to school. If we feel that your child is not coping with the demands of the school day then we telephone you – we would rather do that then not see them at school. Most children soon perk up once they are at school and don’t have time to think about being ill. If however your child is poorly and won’t be attending school we do ask that you remember to ring and either speak to the ladies in the admin office or leave a message on 622675 and press option 1 to leave a message. Thank you.

Bags to SchoolDon’t forget to fill up those Bags to School which were given out in our previous newsletter. They will be coming to collect on Tuesday 10th May. Don’t worry if the original bag has been mislaid - you can fill up any bag with your unwanted clothing/shoes etc., Remember all fundraising goes towards your child(ren)!

Building ProjectsWe are hoping to have some external toilet blocks installed in both playgrounds over the summer holidays. These will be available for pupils to use before and after school and limit pupil access to the inside of school at breaktimes.

Email spam – After School Club/Breakfast ClubWe became aware early last week that the After School/Breakfast club email was hacked and strange messages were being sent to a few of our parents. Apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused. Karen Orford has now set up a new email address of… [email protected] Please use this for all email contact from now on.

Playground Use After SchoolIt is wonderful that lots of parents and children enjoy playing in the playground after school. However I would ask that parents please leave the school premises by 4pm, so that our After School Club can use our facilities safely.

Whole School TripFollowing the success of last year’s trip to Bewilderwood, the whole school will be going on a school trip to Africa Alive in July (this trip is paid for by fundraising events such as Magstock,/bags to school etc) Coaches will leave school at 9.20am and we will return to school for 2.30pm. All pupils will require a packed lunch; any pupils on FSM will have a packed lunch provided to them by the school kitchen. Please ensure your child wears full school uniform, brings a raincoat or sun cap. No money is needed. More information will follow nearer the time.

This will be a fantastic opportunity for the whole school to enjoy a fun day out! If any parents do not wish their child(ren) to attend, please come and see Miss Fahy.
