(Refrain) Spirit, spirit of gentleness, Blow through the wilderness, calling and free,Spirit, spirit of restlessness, Stir me from placidness, Wind, wind on the sea.

You moved on the waters, You called to the deep,Then You coaxed up the mountains From the valleys of sleep,And over the eons You called to each thing,“Awake from your slumbers And rise on your wings.” (Refrain)

You sang in a stable, You cried from a hill,Then You whispered in silence When the whole world was still,And down in the city You called once againWhen You blew through Your people On the rush of the wind. (Refrain)

Call to ConfessionLeader: Swept up by the wind of God’s Spirit,All: and fully aware of our sins, let us offer our prayer of confession.

Prayer of Confession* (in unison)Almighty God, you poured your Spirit upon gathered disciples creating bold tongues, open ears, and a new community of faith. We confess that we often resist the force of your Spirit among us. We do not listen for your word of grace, speak the good news of your love, or live as a people made one in Christ.Have mercy on us, O God. Transform our timid lives by the power of your Spirit, and fill us with a lasting desire to be your faithful people and to do your will, for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord,  in whose name we pray. Amen.

Assurance of PardonLeader: This is an old, old story,All: one that lasts from now on throughout all eternity.Leader: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. All: In Jesus Christ, we are loved

and so is the world and all that lies therein.Leader: Thanks be to God, and his redeeming, renewing Spirit,All: now and forevermore. Amen.

Response, Hymn #319 (refrain, verse 4). . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .“Spirit”

(Refrain) Spirit, spirit of gentleness, Blow through the wilderness, calling and free,Spirit, spirit of restlessness, Stir me from placidness, Wind, wind on the sea.

You call from tomorrow, You break ancient schemes,From the bondage of sorrow The captives dream dreams; Our women see visions Our men clear their eyes. With bold new decisions Your people arise. (Refrain)

Hymn of Devotion, Glory to God #280 (verses 1-2). . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . “Come, O Spirit, Dwell Among Us”

Come, O Spirit, dwell among us; come with Pentecostal power;give the church a stronger vision; help us face each crucial hour.Built upon a firm foundation, Jesus Christ the Cornerstone, still the church is called to mission that God's love shall be made known.

We would raise our alleluias for the grace of yester years;for tomorrow's unknown pathway, hear, O Lord, our humble prayers. In the church's pilgrim journey You have led us all the way;still in presence move before us, fire by night and cloud by day.

You are called to be truly human, but it is nothing short of the life of God within you that enables you to be so, to be remade in God's image.” (N.T. Wright, from The Challenge of Easter)
