Vision StatementThe vision of Smith Middle School is to prevent juvenile delinquency and develop lawful, productive citizens through a broad range of family-centered services. The mission of the Smith Middle School is to educate and prepare our students for a successful future. We provide a safe, structured environment where at risk students can reach their full potential. We teach the foundations of respect, cooperation and place a high value on core curriculum achievement.

6th grade: steady improvement over 3 year period

7th grade: decrease in mean DSS from 2012 to 2013

8th: slight decline in DSS from 2012 to 2013

9th grade: over 20 point mean DSS gains from 2012 to 2013

10th: over 10 points overall mean DSS from 2012 to 2013

8th grade scored the highest comparatively with a mean DSS of nearly 210

6th,7th, & 9th graders scored just above 200

10th graders scored nearly 45 mean DSS points below the district

Comparison to District/State

6th graders improved a dramatic 16 points from 2012/ 8 points above the district/3 above the state

9th graders also had drastic increases scoring a mean DSS of 250/14 points above the district/10 above the state average

10th graders drew to within 3 points of the districts mean DSS of 242
