meltdowns in less than ten years, today’s investors are focused on safety and savings. Fixed

A recent Wharton study argues, “the fixed index annuity may be considered a separate
asset class.”1 Fixed Index Annuity (FIA) product design is unique. By locking in all gains during
each reset period and eliminating the possibility of negative returns, risk averse investors can
attain attractive returns. FIA’s averaged 5.54% annualized returns for all five-year holding periods
from 1997 – 2009, according to an update of the Wharton study. 2

lincOln cOllins. Lincoln Collins is a senior financial services
executive with an entrepreneurial spirit. He led the start up of The
Hartford’s European life insurance businesses as its CEO. Lincoln built
a multi-channel distribution strategy leading to sales of $2.5 billion
within four years as The Hartford became a top ten provider of both
variable annuities and private pensions in the U.K. Achieving top
