We Wish All Our Members and Their Families
a Safe and Enjoyable Thanksgiving Holiday!
President’s Message Welcome to November! As the trees con-tinue to change, autumn is now in full swing. Summer is gone and it’s time to start making your holiday plans. We enjoyed a great turnout at our October Executive Series luncheon program. For those of you who missed it, Jane Suter, Vice President of Transportation, C.H. Robinson, presented an informative program that helped everyone better understand relationships with customers that are sometimes more important than the negotiated rate itself. Jane’s vast knowledge and experience with customer service helped us all gain an edge in our customer interactions. Our final Executive Series luncheon for 2013 will take place November 21st at the Avalon Banquets in Elk Grove Village. Our guest speaker that day will be Virginia Alba-nese, President and CEO of FedEx Customer Critical. Ms. Albanese has accumulated many prestigious awards and has been named to the Power 100 List for the past three years. We look forward to her upcoming presentation.
Transportation Night is aProven Success Once Again Last month’s 9th annual Transportation Night networking event at the Rosewood Restaurant continued its success with over 300 attendees taking advantage of the evening to meet and greet their fellow peers in the industry. Mother Nature was also kind to us by giving us an evening that was void of any inclement weather that is always possible at this time of the year. Although a couple of associations were unable to join us again this year due to scheduling conflicts, another organiza-tion joining us for the first time helped to offset this loss, giving us a total of 13 organizations being represented that night.

Finally, please mark December 4th on your calendar for the Club’s Annual Holiday Reception. This much anticipat-ed event will be held in the Lobby level Ballroom of the Westin Hotel, located at 70 Yorktown Center in Lombard, IL. This is an excellent opportunity for you to network and to entertain your custom-ers and coworkers. The Ballroom has a warm and inviting atmosphere, and a wall of windows offering a great view of the adjacent fountain and adjoining promenade. The hotel is conveniently located near I-355, I-294, I-88 and Route 83. So come early, do your holiday shopping at the Yorktown Mall located next to the hotel, and enjoy our last networking event of the year. The Club is looking for spon-sors for the reception, which would be a great opportunity for you to get your company name out there. All sponsors will be recognized on a sponsor sign at the reception that evening and in the Club’s January newsletter. I look forward to seeing one and all on December 4th.
Best regards,Eddie C. Beard
