FSL Eligibility Requirements

Eligibility to join a fraternity or sorority at FGCU:

Must be a degree-seeking student at FGCU

Have a high school diploma and/or GED

Complete the online Hazing Prevention Module: It’s Everyone’s Responsibility

Complete the online risk management workshop called GreekingResponsibly

Students can manually enroll themselves into the course by going to the FSL website, scrolling down the “Greeking Responsibly” section, and clicking “Enroll Now”

Individual organizations may have additional eligibility requirements as well, such as GPA.

Expectations and Obligations

Financial obligations

Chapter Dues (average $500-1000 first semester, price will vary by organization)

Governing Council dues (vary - $10-$15 per semester)

FSL Fee ($5 per semester)

FGCU FSL staff members do not collect or reimburse for individual chapter dues.

Time obligations

Chapter meetings, philanthropy events, service events, required FSL programming, etc. (10-15 hours per week)

SFE

Purpose

To encourage practices that will allow our chapters to provide education, resources, and encouragement to their members that will translate into success in college for both the students and for the chapters.

To provide a set of minimum standards by which all fraternity and sorority chapters will be measured annually in order to maintain a level of good standing with the institution and their national organization.

To aggregate data on our Fraternity and Sorority Community that will help show the impact of the experience on their members, to the community and the university.

Scholarship and Intellectual Development, Community Service and Philanthropy, Programming and Collaboration, and Leadership and Membership Development
