MISSION STATEMENT
Joyfully recognizing God’s commitment
and faithfulness to us, FAITH LUTHERAN
CHURCH exists to serve God through serv-
ing God’s people. We eagerly work towards
the realization of God’s Kingdom by:
• Offering praise-filled worship to God.
• Nurturing individual spiritual growth.
• Fostering an environment of caring and
acceptance.
• Reaching out to serve the needs of our
community.
God’s love stirs us to touch others with
the same love we have received—and invites
them to share our life of praise and service.
Faith Lutheran Church (ELCA) Columbus, Wisconsin
AS MEMBERS OF FAITH LUTHERAN CHURCH WE
PROMISE:
• To attend services regularly. • To support the congregation financially. • To live responsibly as a Christian witness. • To become as involved as possible in the total life and work
of the congregation.
And this we promise to do by the help of God.
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the
conviction of things not seen.

Interested in becoming
a part of Faith’s music
ministry?
FAITH CHOIR: We lift our
voices to the Lord and so can
you! The desire to sing is the only requirement.
All adults and confirmation age youth (and older)
are welcome. We will resume rehearsals on Sep-
tember 4 and rehearse every Wednesday even-
ing from 7:40-8:50 p.m. in the sanctuary. We sing
two—three Sundays a month at the 8:00 Heritage
Service. Please consider joining us.
FAITHFUL RINGERS: What are those
delightful sounds coming from the fellowship hall
every Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. It’s the bell
choir, rehearsing their songs. After an hour
practice, a few clinks, clunks, and a good measure
of fun, we’re ready to ring every third Sunday of
the month. If you are interested in learning more,
we invite you to come September 4 and
explore becoming a ringer or substitute. (You do
not have to read music!)
Questions may be directed to Lisa Weisensel at
920–382-1188.

FAITH IN STITCHES
THANKS YOU AND NEEDS YOU
Our group has had a great year with our monthly meetings. Every other month we focus on our own projects or charity work. During 2019 our charity work has been busy with making baptismal bibs and also a tee shirt quilt for the Dementia Coalition of Dodge County. We are grateful for many dona-tions of material that help us fulfill our projects.
This fall we are planning several charity projects, for Lutheran World Relief. Home Again and Heartland Hospice in Columbus have also identi-fied a need for their residents. This fall our group will construct:
* Drawstring school bags to send for Lutheran World Relief.
* Walker bags. These bags are great for residents to put on their walkers and allow them to carry newspapers, mail, and snacks, etc. Home Again is excited that we can make 15 bags for them.
*Both Home Again and Heartland Hospice have requested clothing protectors.
* Heartland Hospice needs cloth catheter bags.
• Canvas shopping bags and cloth shopping bags to help eliminate using plastic grocery bags. We will share more on this endeavor in the next few months.
We will be working on these projects this fall, but to get a jump start, we could use your help on Sun-day, September 8 during Gods Work, Our Hands. We will have cutting stations set up in the fellow-ship hall and if you can spare two hours to cut out these projects, we appreciate your help. If you would like to help sew, we will be working on Monday, September 16 from 9:00-5:00.
Once again, thank you for making our work much
easier with your donations.

ARE YOU 70 YEARS OLD OR OLDER?
If you have reached the magical age of being required to take a withdrawal from your IRA, you may want to consider a potential tax savings when you make donations to qualified non-profit organizations like Faith Lutheran Church. The new tax law raised the standard deduction to the point that itemizing deductions like donations may not provide a tax reduction. By directing your investment manager to use your required distribution from your IRA to make your donations, you can avoid the tax on that portion of your distribution. I am not your investment advisor. Please consult this person about this new law and have them help you with the process and the decision to use the new financial tool.
