Dear Parishioners,
The Indian Community in the parish
celebrates in honor of Saint Alphonsa
of the Immaculate Conception next Sunday, July
15th with a concelebrated Mass at 4:00PM in the
church followed by a street procession, veneration
of her relics and a festive dinner in the White
Room.
In anticipation of our annual celebration this past Friday we began the Novena to Saint Alphonsa following
the 9:00 AM Mass and it is beautiful to see the number of people who attend and pray the Novena each day
trusting in the care and fidelity of this holy saint. There is also a petition box on the table in the Gathering
Space to place personal prayers which will be offered at Mass next Sunday.
At the Mass we will welcome Bishop Raymond Chappetto as main celebrant and Rev. Dr. Francis
Nampiaparambil will deliver the homily.
For those who wish to sponsor this year’s celebration in honor of this humble saint there are sponsor
envelopes available and you may place your sponsorship in the Gathering Space as well.
Please join us in this special parish celebration throughout this week and next Sunday. “How sweet to my tongue it is to utter the Holy Name of Jesus!”

Give thanks to the Lord for He is good.
His love endures forever. Psalm 1361
In today's second reading, the apostle Paul is told by
the Lord that His grace is sufficient, and that power is
made perfect in weakness (2 Cor 12:9). When we feel
that we are too weak -- that we do not have what it
takes -- to respond to a special calling from the Lord,
may we remember all that Paul accomplished, through
the power of Christ "made perfect in weakness."

ARE YOU SMARTER THAN AN OLSCA 8TH GRADER?
By Brother Michael Renna, OFS—Chairperson Did you know that you can calculate the height of a tall tree by knowing the length of its shadow? After all, it would be quite difficult to measure the height of a tall tree directly by using a meter stick! In this problem, you are asked to find the height of a tree by knowing the measure of its shadow on the ground. Good luck! A flagpole which is 15 meters tall casts a shadow 25 meters long at the same time and place that a tree casts a shadow 45 meters long. Find the height of the tree. (Answer and solution next week)
