Sr. Pilar

I would like to thank all alumnae for taking time out of your busy schedules to take part in these fund raising opportunities, for your generous heart and your trust in us. Thank you all for this special opportunity to serve as your president in 2016-2017.

As I pass the responsibility to the next president, I do so with great confidence that she will have CHSAF’s best interest at heart and will do a wonderful job leading the association next year towards the fulfillment of its goals. May we count on your support once more?

Thank you.

Jane Addams, the pioneering American social reformer and women's rights activist, was instrumental in bringing the needs of mothers and children to greater public awareness. In recognition of her contributions to the social good, she became the first American woman and the second woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize in 1931. She is recognized as the founder of the social work profession in the United States. Born in Illinois in 1860, Addams was inspired by Charles Dickens' writing on the lives of the poor to spend her life helping those in need.

Actress and humanitarian Audrey Hepburn is considered a screen legend in American cinema. She was also deeply involved in humanitarian work as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. She participated in field mission trips around the world and helped raise global awareness of humanitarian crises in countries ranging from Ethiopia to Guatemala. She remained hopeful about the future and especially about the impact of UNICEF's work. As she once observed, "Anyone who doesn't believe in miracles is not a realist.
