A MESSAGE FROM OUR PASTOR

Dear Holy Apostles Parish Family:

September is Suicide Awareness Month. This past week a young father hung himself on the second anniversary of when his 11-year-old daughter hung herself. He left a young son, whose mother is not present, in the hands of his mother and sisters. I cannot begin to explain the profound sadness I and the hospital staff felt as they prepared to take the young father off life support and donate four vital organs to give life to four other people.

I have had many people reach out this past week who are struggling emotionally and physically. It is vital the we connect with people who are isolated and tell them we care. We cannot save some, but we can certainly show them the face of God and care.

Please think of someone who you worry about or have not talked to and reach out to see how they are!

Have a Blessed Week! Father Paul Give online at GiveCentral.org

My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the Most Blessed Sacrament. I love you above all things and I desire to receive you in my soul. Never permit me to be separated from you. Amen.

in our area to assists families in need. Your gifts of treasure to SVdPS are used to purchase food at a significant discount, which is then given to our needy neighbors. Some funds

might be sent directly to a utility company to avoid shut-off of services while other funds may pay for gas or a needed car repair to allow one of our neighbors to get to work. Your donations allow our neighbors to feed their families, to live in dignity and to continue to be productive members of our community. Won't you consider a donation today? We Celebrate Our Catechists! Each year the Bishop O’Neill Award is given to volunteers who share their faith and witness the Gospel as formal catechists in the parish Faith Formation programs. Today is Catechetical Sunday, when we celebrate the gifts and dedication of all our volunteers who teach the faith. This year, three catechists, Kelly Floden (7 years), Mary Mauch, (8 years) and Edith Varga, (7 years) have been selected to receive the Bishop O’Neill Award for their years of loving service of passing on their faith to our children. Bishop Arthur O’Neill was the Bishop of Rockford from 1968 to 1994, who in 1989 commissioned Fr. Robert Sherry to establish a new parish in McHenry— the Church of Holy Apostles. Congratulations!
