As you will spend a considerable time on the day close to your

photographer, do ensure that you feel comfortable with them - after all

you will need to be totally relaxed with them to ensure that they can

capture you just the way you are.

It is worth while getting references from other wedding couples,

who have used the same photographer, and if possible review their

album.

Make sure you know exactly what is in the package that the

photographer offers. Is an album included? Will it be a traditional

album or a story book? Will the photographer stay for the whole day?

Are prints included in the package?

There are different styles of photography from the classic to the

photo journalistic, ensure that you are clear on your requirements.

Today’s bride has a mixture of formal and contemporary shots.

Look at wedding magazines and find the style and feel of

photography you like and make a scrapbook of these ideas. In this

way it is possible to get your photographer to replicate photos that you

have liked.

Ask if the photographer will do a pre wedding visit with you to your

chosen venue, to discuss your requirements in situ. In this way you

can view the venue and grounds and be instrumental in the picking the

romantic backdrops to your photos.

Often the venue will have a preferred photographer who will be

familiar with the grounds and photographic opportunities, ask the

venue manager for recommendations.
