What do we need all these

things for?

air

The air around us contains oxygen.

We need to breathe the air to keep us alive and

healthy.

If we don’t have air to breath we will die!

Food and drink

Food gives our

bodies energy, so that we can work and play.

Good food helps our bodies work properly and helps us

grow.

Milk is good for our bones

and teeth.

water

We cannot survive without

water for more than three days.

Our bodies need water so they can keep working.

Water keeps our brains alert!

shelter

Clothes protect our

skin and keep us warm.

Our homes protect us from the weather and from other

dangers.

Shade keeps us cool and protects us from the sun.

exercise

Exercise keeps our

bodies moving.

Exercise keeps our hearts working properly.

Exercise can be fun!

sleep

If we don’t get

enough sleep we can feel

too tired to do things during the

day.

We need sleep because our bodies need rest.

Sleep helps us regain our energy.

good hygiene

Good hygiene

helps our bodies fight

germs and illnesses.

Being hygienic means being clean.

We can do this in lots of ways.
