MORNING Quantum Global

Good Morning & Welcome to Monday's trading action at Dalal

Street, dated 9th September 2019.

The street will look for a 'Good Start'— and hopefully a bright trading day.

That's on backdrop of momentum stocks that were on roll at Dalal Street

in Friday’s trade. The positive catalyst obviously was reports that the

United States and China are set to go back to the negotiable table this

October.

And this morning helping sentiments would be Friday’s U.S jobs report for

August that showed a fewer-than-expected 130,000 new jobs created in

the month. Well, the employment data supports markets expectation for a

rate cut later this month by the Federal Reserve. Clearly, U.S. interest

rates are headed from low to lower.

Amidst this backdrop, Wall Street mostly ended higher in Friday’s trade.

Digging deeper, the Dow Jones index now stands 2.1% shy of its record

closing high at 27,359.16, hit July 15, while the S&P 500 is about 1.6%

short of its all-time closing high set on July 26 at 3,025.86, and the Nasdaq

is 2.7% from its July 26 record at 8,330.21.

Meanwhile, commanding attention would be China’s slashing its reserve-

requirement ratio by a half-point on Friday, and for the third time this year

— releasing $126.35 billion in liquidity to shore up the flagging economy.

The size of the latest move was at the upper end of market expectations,

and the amount of funds released will be the largest so far in the current

easing cycle.

Now the only catalyst dampening sentiments at Dalal Street are FIIs

selling. In Friday’s trade too, FII’s sold shares worth Rs. 957.05 crores in

the Indian Equity Market which totals the September sell figure to Rs.

5272.91 crores.

That brings us to our call of the day which suggests tricky session ahead

for traders as FII’s selling are still a risk to the bulls’ camp, but that said

keeping downside limited would be Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's

addresses over the past three weeks which suggests that the government

is leaving no stone unturned to provide economic push back.

We suspect, short covering and value buying could be the order of the day

at lower levels.

That said, this market has much work to do to be on the bullish side again.

We will spy with one big eye on this big camp and look out for catalysts

which bring them back bulls to Dalal Street. Hopefully, U.S-China trade

developments takes Nifty above its magical 12,000 mark again.

MORNING Quantum Global

Technical StrategyLong story short: If Nifty ends on a stronger note today with FIIs

participation on buy side then that means the next move for the market is

probably higher. We just need to see significant buying in today’s trade

before we buy into a rally.

SGX Nifty in early action is indicating a bounce thanks to Friday’s strong

positive Wall Street cues where the Dow Jones Industrial Average finally

continues to move out of its range to the upside.

Technically, Nifty’s immediate hurdles are at 11,201 mark. This 11,201

mark happens to be the 200 DMA. So until Nifty clears 11,201 mark, brace

yourself for choppy waters. Nifty’s immediate support seen at 10637

mark.

Maximum Call Open Interest (OI) of 21.35 lakh contracts was seen at the

11,000 strike price. It will act as a crucial resistance level for the

September series. Maximum Put Open Interest of 32.75 lakh contracts

was seen at 10,800 strike price, which will act as crucial support in

September series.

self construction, loans for the purchase of plots and

ready to occupy homes, and balance transfer facility

for existing home loans; home equity loans;

business loans for small and medium enterprises;

rural and agri-loans; and refinance against existing

vehicles.

Technically, CHOLAMANDALAM’s stock price pattern

appears attractive even at current higher levels.

The near term momentum oscillators are in buy

mode signaling further sharp up-move.

The stock price is signaling a break out from a

probable Flag pattern on daily charts with a probable

resistance at its intermediate high at 281mark. The

stock is witnessing buying pressure after

consolidating between 264-2815 zone for past 7-

days. Major strength on cards above 311 levels.

Also the recent sequence of higher highs / lows is

intact in the daily and intraday charts.

Reverse divergences on weekly and monthly charts

September Series. Short covering was seen at strike price 10800-10900.

• Maximum Put Open Interest (OI) was seen at strike price 10900 followed by 10800 strike price for 12th September

series. Short buildup was seen at strike prices 10300-11200.

• For Bank Nifty, Maximum Call Open Interest (OI) stands at 28000 Strike Price and Maximum Put Open Interest

stands at 26500 Strike Price.

• As per Friday’s Provisional Data available on the NSE, FII’s sold shares worth Rs. 957.05 crores in the Indian Equity

Market. DIIs on the other hand, bought shares worth Rs. 1207.20 crores in the Indian Equity market.

GLOBAL CUES:

• The Dow and the S&P 500 logged their third day of gains in a row on Friday, on the heels of the government jobs

report that showed hiring slowed in August. Friday’s jobs report showed that the United States added 1,30,000

jobs last month, missing streets’ expectations and providing further evidence of a slowdown in hiring.

• The employment data supports the streets’ expectations for a rate cut later this month.

• China's Commerce Ministry said the two sides will hold high-level negotiations in Washington early next month,

while the U.S. side confirmed a sit-down "in the coming weeks." Preliminary talks are expected to be in mid-

September, the Commerce Ministry said following a phone call Wednesday with China's Vice Premier Liu He and

U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin.

ECONOMIC CUES:

• India's GDP growth slipping to an over six-year low of 5% in the June quarter of 2019-20. It was the weakest

growth rate since the first quarter of 2013.

• The latest GST collection in August drops below Rs 1 lakh cr mark. The subdued trend in GST receipts coincides

with the economic downturn.

• Manufacturing growth almost collapses at 0.6% in the June quarter, against 3.1% in the March quarter, in a sign of

the dismal state of the industrial sector of the economy. Among services sectors, only trade, hotels,

communication segment have grown faster in the June quarter at 7.1%, compared with the March-quarter growth

of 6%. Both financial services (5.9%) and public administration services (8.5%) decelerated in the June quarter.

The only sector that registered a robust pick-up is electricity, growing at 8.6% in the June quarter, from 4.3% in the

preceding quarter.

• A revision of 2nd quarter GDP growth showed the U.S. economy growing at a 2% annual rate rather than the

previously reported 2.1%. The revised numbers also showed the U.S. consumer playing an even larger role in

economic growth than before, as personal consumption accounted for 3.1% points of growth, versus the initially

reported 2.9%.
