This month, we will explore three basic calls that God places on his church which serve as foundational for our church community: to encounter God in relationship and prayer, to equip his people to serve inside and outside the church, and to reach lost people with the life-changing hope of Jesus Christ. We invite you to join us and find your place in this community God has given us. Land of the Lost & Found - Kids Musical August 7 @ 10am We love to see our kids learning about and loving Jesus! Our kids have worked very hard to practice and prepare a special presentation of the musical Land of the Lost and Found! Join with us in encouraging and celebrating God’s love for our children this month. Thank you Brittany Teigland for leading our kids! Church in the Park & Prayer for our Community - Labor Day Weekend September 4 @ 10am at O’Brien Park As we head toward the end of Summer and a new school year, we want to renew our commitment to loving our Parker and Southeast Metro area community. We are excited to offer some very practical steps on how we can accomplish this together (see Life on Mission below), but we want to begin this commitment with a time of prayer. On Labor Day Weekend, we plan to meet at O’Brien Park instead of at our church building. We will have worship at the park, we’ll pray and walk through our town’s Farmer’s Market, and finally we will conclude with a picnic lunch back at the park. Please bring your lunch, walking shoes, a smile, and a prayerful heart. ENCOUNTER EQUIP REACH Connect Groups Groups Begin Soon - Sign up Beginning August 21 In order to effectively reach our community with the love of Jesus, we have to be built up and equipped to live the “good life” that Jesus has called us to. Sunday morning worship services are only partly effective in providing the necessary instruction and relationships to effectively be “sent out.” Sign up for a Connect group which is a great way to develop authentic personal relationships and a deep understanding and love for Jesus. Off the Beaten Path - 14er Climb August 20 @ 3am Climb a 14,000 foot mountain (La Plata Peak) with the OTBP group. This is your chance to experience beauty of Colorado from one of its highest points. The hike will be challenging, but we’ll choose a mountain suited to the group fitness and experience level. Start your training now, and contact Brooks Goerzen to sign up to go! Life on Mission New Series Coming in September! As God’s people, we are called to live every day on purpose. God has placed us, his church, on this earth to accomplish his mission to bring healing and hope through the message of Jesus! We will spend the month of September thinking very practically about how we can accomplish this task as God’s “everyday missionaries.” You will be so encouraged and empowered to reach people around you that not want to miss a Sunday! Family Ministry Opportunities New Sunday Morning Curriculum - Beginning September We are really excited to begin a year-long chronological journey through scripture with our kids and preschoolers. We will be using Tru Curriculum which is a spiritually forming, parent-empowering curriculum that equips children, leaders and families to know Jesus and live out a vibrant lifetime faith. We look forward to partnering with parents and offering resources for families to be the spiritual leaders in your homes. Spiritual Parenting Discussion Group & Homefront Magazine for Parents In connection with Tru Curriculum, these two resources will equip and empower you as a parent to lead your family well this year. The Spiritual Parenting Group (Wednesdays @ 7pm) will explore and discuss how to practice 10 environments for faith development in your home, and Homefront Magazine is a free resource for our parents to get practical advice and fun activities to encourage these faith environments with your children. Wednesday Night Discipleship - Begins August 31 Wednesday Night Discipleship is returning soon! We’re so excited to join with your kids on this exciting journey of knowing Jesus through age and gender specific discipleship groups. Both Royal Rangers and Mpact Girls Clubs resume meeting every week (6:30-7:45pm) beginning August 31. Look for registration info soon! MOPS & MOMSnext - Beginning September MOPS is coming to Cornerstone Church! We will have groups meeting morning & evening on the 1st & 3rd Thursday of every month.
