YOUTH—MISSION (Jr. High Youth Mission Trip Opportunity)

We are planning a three day trip to the Urban Immersion Learning and Service Center in Minneapolis this summer. It will be open to students currently in 7th or 8th grade. This will be a three day trip involving service work in Minneapolis and classes at the center about urban problems. It takes place in a safe and ordered environment and has proven to be good preparation for our high school trips to New York and Jamaica.

We are currently coordinating a trip from July 31 to August 3. Look for more information in future newsletters, in the bulletin, on line, and at youth events. If you have a student who might be interested in this opportunity please contact the church office.

SEMINARY SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Below you will find an update from James Heroux about his progress at Moravian Theological Seminary. I would like to remind everyone that we have activated the Seminary Scholarship Fund so that we can help support his studies. For example his book list, just for this semester, is 20 books that he needs to purchase. Please con-sider making a donation to the Seminary Scholarship Fund so we can help James. Above all keep him in your prayers as he responds to God’s call to serve the church. Rev. Knapp

THANK YOU WASEDA FARMS

Congratulations to Marilyn Potts for purchasing the winning raffle ticket and taking home the beautiful Code Talker quilt. Special thanks to our auctioneer, Andy Starr; the quilt group, Vickie in the office and Tracey Vreeke and her kitchen crew! Also, thanks to the Stewardship committee for organizing the event! SEMINARY UPDATE

Greetings from Bethlehem! It is hard to believe that my second semester here at seminary has already begun. The snow is melting and before I know it I will be heading home for the summer. I am particularly excited for this semester because I am beginning to take “ministry” specific classes. I have Rhythms of Ministry and Reli-gion in the American Context, Intro to the New Testament and Sex and Sexuality in the New Testament, as well as a class on the Trinity. Aside from those classes I will be spending a month each at Central Moravian and Col-lege Hill Moravian shadowing each pastor and assisting in a few responsibilities around the church. The goal is to narrow down which church I would like to serve as a student pastor for my second and third years. I am greatly looking forward to learning more about each church’s ministry and the communities they serve. And, of course, I will be trying my best to find time to run and stay fit. There is a biking/hiking trail along the Lehigh River that I am hoping will be free from snow soon so I can take advantage of it. It will surely be a busy semes-ter but it makes it easier when you are excited about what you are doing. James Heroux
