Passing Messages across the Network

• Every computer has its own address.

• The address address is written in numbers

• This is called an IP address

Passing Messages Activity

• In Groups, one person is the switch (1.1)• The others in the group are computers (1.2…)

Computers: Write a message to another computer, break up the message into 3 (like the example)

Pass the note to the switch

• Computers, pass your message to the switch

• Switches, should now have 5 different piles

• Switches, deliver messages to the right switch

• Switches, deliver messages to the right computer

• Computers, re-assemble the messages in the right order.
