Lacrosse is one of the oldest team sports in the world and originated in Canada. It is Canada’s #1 summer sport

In 2000 the sport was introduced in the Netherlands and has now become the Netherlands fastest growing sport being played in almost all university cities in the Netherlands.

In 2012 the Netherlands hosted the Lacrosse European Championships

Almost seventy years ago 7500 young Canadians - with the average age of today's Lacrosse player - gave their lives during the Second World War to liberate our country.

In those dark years, Canada became the home to our Royal Family and after the war welcomed hundreds of thousands of Dutch people who now form the over one million strong and vibrant Dutch Canadian community.

Those events served to create a friendship between our two countries that has lasted until this very day.

The Basis of the Canadian Dutch Friendship

We wish to show our appreciation of what Canada has meant to the Netherlands by hosting a Dutch Canadian Day during the World Championships on July 14th in Oshawa for (Dutch) Canadians.

We are asking Dutch and Dutch Canadian companies who share our appreciation of what Canada has meant for the Netherlands to participate in and to help sponsor the Day as well as our team.

On July 14th there is both a Canadian game (12.30) and a Dutch game (19.30) in the World Championships.
