Annual Giving Committee Report Vacant, chair [email protected]
April 2014 Report
Purpose of the Committee: This committee is responsible for raising individual and chapter donations which will be sent to North Carolina A&T State University. The chapter contribution will support the chapter’s scholarship. The 2013-14 Annual Giving campaign goal is $200,000. Progress to Date:
• 222 alumni and friends have donated $144,797.11 to the 2013-14 Annual Giving campaign. This
is an increase of $17,513 and new 27 donors from March 2014. Remember matters that you give,
not how much you give.
• Remember all gifts to the university are tax deductible. Consider donating to A&T as part of your
total charitable donations plan. Areas of priority include: Alumni Association Operations, National
Alumni Scholars Program, Washington, DC Chapter Scholarship & Athletics. Please designate your gifts for maximum impact!
o Starting in 2015, the alumni association will increasingly responsible for funding its own
operations and the national alumni scholars program. Funds designated to those entities
are controlled by the National Alumni Association, Incorporated.
• A shortfall in enrollment projections has negatively impacted our budget situation for FY14.
Additionally the university is preparing for a FY15 budget reduction of up to 3% (nearly $3.6
million). Since FY 2008 we have received $34.1 million in budget reductions and eliminated 244 FTE positions.
Upcoming Committee Events & Dates: The committee is still seeking a chair/co-chair for 2013-15. Please contact Brandon Bellamy at 202-558-6811 or [email protected]

National Alumni Association Updates Dr. Claudette Bennett, President/Chair, NC A&T Alumni Association, Inc.
The Alumni Association is finalizing its Strategic Planning process centering on the theme of becoming the “Driving Force.” We are building upon our historical motto of “No Steps Backwards.”
The five goals of the plan highlight:
• Cultivating relationships between students and the alumni association • Developing Alumni Resources • Operational Infrastructure • Program Planning & Outreach • Communications
The association shared of the Alumni Attitudes Survey during March with chapter leadership. Key reactions from the survey included:
• Need for increased feedback to alumni • Programs & communication targeted to juniors & seniors along with young alumni. • Increase & Broaden alumni benefits • Targeted Communications • Sharing data and news (i.e., FY15 budget projections, $3 million cut to state allocations)
The association is moving forward with drafting revisions to its constitution led by Anthony “TJ” Jackson. On March 25, we e-mailed a draft of the document to the chapter’s mailing list for comment and review.
We are preparing for Alumni Reunion Weekend (May 9 – 11). Registration is available at www.classreunion.ncatsualumni.org.

Verse I Dear A&T, Dear A&T, a monument
indeed, Around thy base with grateful hearts behold thy students
kneel. We bless the power that gave thee birth to help us in our
need, We'll ever strive while here on earth all loyalty to yield.
Refrain
With joy, with joy, dear A&T, thy students turn from thee To spread thy trophies year by year from Dare
to Cherokee.
