In March 2011, following the tsunami disaster in Japan, WAZA has created a new webpage to collect money for the affected institutions. The public could get the latest information from JAZA, have access to JAZA Facebook page and also donate online. The operation “Donate for Japan” lead to a financial support, generated from WAZA members as well as other supporters, in the magnitude of 68,368.33 CHF (83,550.00 $ as of 31 August 2011). Since November 2011 nearly the whole of Thailand was affected by huge flooding, having a great impact on wildlife. WAZA assisted to coordinate drugs and equipment to be sent to Thailand from Japan, Australia, Malaysia and Singapore. Thanks go to all support-ers within the global WAZA network!
