What is 1:1 Technology?

Insurance

Insured at no cost to parents.

Damaged to repair will cost:

1st instance $30

2nd instance $60

$100 for each subsequent time.

Lost/TheftTheft--reasonable effort to secure it--backpack,

locker, locked car, etc. Parents/students must file a report with Waukesha Police Department. The district replenishes. (no deductible)

If not recovered/lost, parents and student are responsible for full price of the device. $499.

$25 at rollout and as a part of each school year’s fees for all Waukesha One Schools

Covers access to Blackboard Mobile, Core Apps (6 of them), and other digital learning content.

Apps given to student remain the students to keep as part of their Apple ID accounts.

What is take home/self managed model?

School owns device.

Susceptible to spot checks from SDW Staff and parents.

Family is responsible for updates, adding apps, and maintaining device.

Student Bootcamp

Designated class time instruction on the basics

Focus on responsible use of technology, digital citizenship, and efficient use of iPad.

These expectations will be reviewed regularly with students.

Expectations will be reviewed over the summer and taught to the students again in the fall.

Parent Involvement/Responsibility

• Assist in Apple ID creation and app purchasing for students under 13

• Manage home use of the device

• Responsible for reporting theft, loss or damage of the device

• Understand the shift in the educational paradigm and the role technology plays in student learning

• Families will be responsible for deductibles or replacement costs as outlined in the Financial Responsibilities Form

• Students are expected to sign the iPad Pledge and maintain their device accordingly

• Students are expected to follow Acceptable Use Policy and use their device only for appropriate purposes

• iPads will be covered by insurance; students and their families will be responsible for deductibles or replacement costs as outlined in the Financial Responsibilities Form

What is the Learner's Responsibility?

• iPads will be distributed in a self-managed

model, this means learners and parents will be responsible for installation of apps and settings/restrictions on the device

• Teachers will plan ahead and request installation of apps needed for curricular use as outlined on course syllabus.
