We would like to remind the public of ongoing scams involving telephone calls, emails, and the

US Mail. Our department has had numerous complaints throughout the past year involving

persons claiming to be associated with law enforcement both local and federal, who often

demanded subjects pay various amounts to satisfy a debt. This time of year, the scams often

increase, as the suspects know persons are getting their tax returns and the victims often are

intimidated into paying them.

Law enforcement officers do not collect money for debts. We ask that anyone receiving a

suspicious contact as stated above, to report the incident to your local police agency.
