Waterline Studios was established in 2004 to serve the architectural and development community by bringing a comprehensive approach to water feature design. A multidisciplinary knowledge base allows us to quickly advance the design and focus on the coordination required for a fully integrated water feature.

Over 35 years of experience combined with a constant desire to keep learning allows us to articulate our clients’ visions into well executed and concise construction document packages that often support significant architectural elements. Our passion for our work helps us to assist our clients understand all the parameters that affect and influence the design and construction of a water feature.

Waterline Studios was established by Dominic Shaw who has experience in all aspects of water features including manufacturing, construction, management, design and product development. Our completed projects around the world are a testament to the care and attention to detail that we carry into every project we are invited to participate in.

With its simultaneous appeal to the senses of sight, sound, and touch, water is a natural focal point for many landscape and architectural designs. A foun-tain, pool or waterfall can enhance a landscape with light and movement, encouraging people to interact with their environment via play or contempla-tion.

As water features become more sophisticated – and use of this precious resource an increasing concern – our 35+ years of experience working with water uniquely qualifies us to address a full spectrum of aesthetic, economic and ecological issues. We consistently strive to find simple yet novel approaches to water feature design and installation.

And, by integrating water feature design into the overall planning process, we are able to produce enhancements that are part of a site’s fabric while keeping costs down. Multi-Purpose Water FeaturesOur clients, and the public who will often enjoy a completed project, are more aware than ever before of the need to conserve water. With this in mind, Waterline Studios is well-versed in the complexities of responsible and practical water use. Our designs are frequently multi-functional, allowing for stormwater retention and reuse, water quality management and public health considerations, in addition to aesthetic value.

Water Feature RenovationThe long-standing attraction of water is apparent in the fact that many water features have become historic or cultural landmarks. However, many of these older features have suffered from poor maintenance or outdated design to the point of becoming inoperable. Waterline Studios can help bring these important civic landmarks back to life. Water feature renovation services include an initial survey of the feature, a detailed analysis of its mechanical and electrical systems, refurbishment cost studies and redesigned hydraulics, updates to electrical and waterproofing systems, and restoration of structures and fi nishes. In the case of water features containing artwork and sculpture, we frequently work directly with local historic preservation groups and restoration specialists.

Systems DesignWaterline Studios’ designers keep abreast of the latest relevant technology, products and installation techniques, and work to include these innovations into the client’s design wherever the client’s requirements and budget allow. We are knowledgable in the latest developments in the design of aeration, recirculation, chemical injection and filtration systems. Our experience with a variety of water features has bequeathed a fundamental understanding of the balance between quality and maintenance costs. A central part of our system design process involves specifying the equipment best suited for the particular project based on cost, durability, availability, maintenance and performance.

Key PersonnelDominic Shaw – Principal Dominic has been involved in the fountain industry for 37 years in a wide range of disciplines including consulting, project management, manufacturing, custom product design, and installation. He has been responsible for all aspects of water feature design for projects worldwide, from conceptual design to construction documentation and commissioning.

Tom San Filippo Tom entered the fountain industry while studying landscape architecture at Colorado State University. His 12 years in the profession have focused on high level detailing and coordination across varied disciplines to achieve world class results. He manages the design process for projects including coordination and production and has worked on projects worldwide, from conceptual design to construction documentation.

Todd ArnoldTodd is a licensed landscape architect with 25 years of professional experience. He has an extensive background in construction documentation, quality control, and construction administration. He has the ability to provide the project team with innovative means and methods of construction that result in the highest design quality, cost effective solutions and implementation. He is an accomplished project manager and field supervisor.

Abu Dhabi Private ResidenceAbu Dhabi, UAEClient: Private

This private residence in the UAE includes 40 acres of landscaped grounds designed by EDAW. Complementing a contemporary Islamic architecture, 12 individual water features of varying sizes grace the grounds, patios and plazas. Custom elements were developed to provide uncompromising detail at each of the water features.

Carved stone, cast bronze escutcheons and glass mosaics were some of the finishes selected to complement the architecture.



Academic Center for Student Athletes Eugene, OregonClient: University of Oregon

The John E. Jaqua Academic Center for Student Athletes stands as a show-piece, contributing to both recruitment of new athletes as well as retention and success of Oregon’s many student athletes. The building is surrounded by water on all four sides, as if it floats on the landscape.



Amazon Corporate Headquarters - The SpheresSeattle, WashingtonClient: Amazon

Amazon created a workplace environment that transforms the nature of the work environment as a place to link employees with nature.

The water features provide a critical auditory and sensory component to the creation of the internal rain forest.



America The Beautiful ParkColorado Springs, ColoradoClient: City of Colorado Springs

This 35 foot diameter sculptural element produced by a local artist rotates at its base to provide a changing view of the city and Pikes Peak through it’s open port. Water is provided to the helix through a rotating hydraulic joint and provides a rain fall of water to the center of the sculpture. The water cascades down a nautilus shaped pool to terminate into a water chute and disappear into a subterranean cistern.



Aquadream - Morocco Mall AquariumCasablanca, MoroccoClient: Aksal Group / Al Jadaie Group

Aquadream is the centerpiece of the luxury retail center along Morocco’s coast. The aquarium was designed to offer an engaging experience, emphasizing education and the importance of preserving the world’s oceans. The aquarium immerses guests into a coral reef environment.

Waterline designed and documented the water feature at the base of the aquarium, which is not part of the filtration/circulation of the aquarium ecosystem.



Armed Forces Reserve CenterClackamas, OregonClient: Oregon National Guard

The building honors the 41st Infantry Division which was first formed during World War I, and saw some of their fiercest fighting during WWII.

The state of the art facility is the largest building in the Oregon National Guard’s inventory, and will house nearly 1,300 Soldiers of the Oregon Army National Guard and U.S. Army Reserve.



Boy Scout Memorial Fountain, Presidents ParkWashington, District of ColumbiaClient: National Park Service

The memorial to the Boy Scouts of America stands on the site of the first Boy Scout Jamboree in 1937. The funds to build this memorial were raised by Scout units throughout the United States and the fountain was dedicated in 1964 in recognition of the Boy Scouts’ 50th anniversary. Waterline Studios re-designed the mechanical and electrical systems and effects. The fountain was recommissioned in 2010 in time for the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts.



California Trails Interpretive CenterElko, NevadaClient: Bureau of Land Management

Between 1841 and 1869, up to 250,000 people sold their belongings, packed wagons, and set out for California. The feature at the interpretive center for the westward wagon train migration symbolizes the trail which followed along the Owens river up to the Humbolt sink where the river disappears below ground. The entire feature was carved from limestone and fully fitted at the quarry prior to being shipped to site and re-assembled.

The new CCLD and adjacent courtyards provide an architectural focal point for the campus, and serves as a counterpoint to the Academy’s iconic Cadet Chapel. The water features support the symmetry and formal design of the award winning facilities.



Children’s Garden at Red Butte GardenSalt Lake City, UtahClient: University of Utah Since it opened in May 1999, the Children’s Garden has become one of the major attractions at Red Butte. Three unique outdoor environments scaled for children make learning about plants and horticulture a pleasurable, memorable experience.

The Adventure Garden features a snake topiary maze and the Sun Fountain, an on-grade water feature that magically squirts as children walk by.

The snake fountain is at the entry to the topiary maze and offers another opportunity for children to touch the water elements.

By crossing a bridge, children enter a world of possibilities in the Exploratory Garden, where a small wetland frames a grotto veiled by a thin curtain of water.



City of Dreams Casino Macau, ChinaClient: Melco Resorts & Entertainment

The water feature consists of an acrylic sphere and a water wall behind the sphere. The sphere appears to be floating on an effervescent pool and is a fo-cal point for the casino interior.



Civil War Interpretive CenterCorinth, MississippiClient: National Park Service

The water feature in the courtyard at this interpretive center is a metaphor for the entry of the states into the civil war. The granite blocks represent the major battles of the war and are each sized in proportion to the number of men lost in battle. The monument at the head of the fountain has 13 filigree weirs that represent the original 13 colonies.



Copley Square RenovationBoston, MassachusettsClient: Friends of Copley Square

Copley Square is one of Boston’s destination parks framed by the Public Li-brary, Trinity Church, and John Hancock Tower and dates back to the planning of this area in the 19th Century. The fountain was a later addition and had an array of maintenance and water quality concerns.

Waterline Studios provided detailed analysis and recommendations for the renovation of the fountain to improve maintenance and water quality.



Darlington Electric FountainNew Orleans, LAClient: Friends of the West End

Completed in 1915 at West End Park in New Orleans, the Electric Fountain was one of the last projects designed and supplied by Frederic Darlington and one of only two surviving in the US.

Waterline Studios provided a review of the existing structure and mechanics and provided a report and cost estimate on the process for renovation. Renova-tion work will be tied into reconstruction funds from hurricane Katrina.



Dayton RiverscapeDayton, OhioClient: City of Dayton, Montgomery County Parks

This riverfront redevelopment was anchored by the Five Rivers fountain which provided a monumental display of water during the day and a waterscreen at night. Laser imagery, jag lasers and sound were part of the effects for the entertainment portion of the work.



Denver Tech CenterDenver, ColoradoClient: Denver Tech Center

This 130 foot long water wall was given a high tech look by utilizing perforated stainless steel sheets that reflected sunlight by day and allowed underwater lighting to penetrate through by night. The pond was a fluctuating level irriga-tion supply so the nozzles were designed into flooded pools also fabricated from stainless steel sheet and acrylic backing. Lighting permeates the nozzle shells and provides for a constant water supply to the jets.



Durrat Al BahrainSouthern BahrainClient: Durrat Al Bahrain

Durrat Al Bahrain waterfront promenade will reflect the islands’ idyllic ambience encouraging residents to step outside and interact with nature. Green corridors and community areas will connect the urban fabric, and all villas will have direct access to water via either a beachfront or a jetty.



Fairmont Princess SpaScottsdale, Arizona USAClient: Fairmont Hotels & Resorts

The swimming pool at the Princess spa was designed as a stainless steel shell on structure with a tile finish to the pool interior. A source water fall appears to originate from the pool and courses through the treatment spa courtyard providing an auditory experience to the spa patrons.



Four Seasons Resort - BiltmoreMontecito, CaliforniaClient: Four Seasons Resorts and Hotels

The renovation of the Four Seasons Biltmore was commissioned under the exacting standard of the resort’s own reputation. With its lush gardens, ocean overlooks, and recreational opportunities, the Biltmore was in need of a landscape that would cement its stature as one of the premier destinations on the west coast.

The swimming pool was designed in a classic shape to provide the impression that it had been in existence as long as the hotel. The design called for a custom white pearlescent tile finish, underwater sound and no apparent pool fittings at the deck. The entire deck is paved in sandstone and two 200 sq. ft. spas were added to the pool area.

A novel approach was taken with the surrounding pool wall which by code had to be 5’ high. By adding a water feature moat around the perimeter, the fence was lowered by 1 foot, allowing a view of the pool area from the adjacent rooms.



Four Seasons Resort - Sharm el SheikSharm el Sheik, EgyptClient: Four Seasons

This resort pool was designed to take advantage of the views over the Red Sea at this prestigious dive resort. The site is set on a hill sloping down to the water with Villas and Condos surrounding the main hotel core. Numerous pools and fountains are located in courtyards and plazas.



The Grove PlazaBoise, IdahoClient: Capital City Development Corporation

Located in the heart of downtown Boise, The Grove Plaza is the city’s most prominent public venue. and is probably the single most visited site in Idaho’s most visited city.

After nearly 30 years of use and enjoyment, The Grove Plaza needed signifi-cant improvements. The water feature was renovated to comply with current codes utilizing existing infrastructure. The successful installation of twenty-five (25) proportionally controlled water jets with LED lighting and supplemental fog effects make this water feature a key component of this downtown renovation.



Hershey’s Childrens GardenCleveland, Ohio USAClient: Cleveland Botanical Garden

The children’s features on this garden included a high pressure fog system that emanates from 4 faux stones representing the four winds. The water feature was scaled for kids and rises up and down in a pre-programmed sequence. The pond was created to show aquatic life and allow the children to interact with the natural environment.



Katzen Arts CenterWashington, Distric of ColumbiaClient: American University

The region’s largest university facility for exhibiting art, the museum’s permanent collection highlights the holdings of the Katzen and Watkins collection. Rotating exhibitions emphasize regional, national, and international contemporary art.

Its form acts as a cultural bridge between the university and the surrounding neighborhood. The water feature creates a formal entry to the facility.



Kerry CenterBeijing, ChinaClient: Kerry Development Corporation

Located within one city block in Beijing, Kerry Center is an upmarket high rise building complex comprising a 32-story office tower, twin residential towers, a hotel, an athletic club and a retail component. The site development sits on structure above a retail mall and parking garage.

Two grand water wall features occupy the east and west boundaries of the property, bookending the development and creating oases for the users of the building. Custom hand assembled waterwall panels utilize a novel approach to the stone wall finish while the entry feature utilizes mirrors within the stone tile veneer.

In establishing a place-specific approach, the design incorporates the use of local igneous rock and native vegetation throughout.



Kierland Commons Town CenterPhoenix, ArizonaClient: Woodbine Southwest Corporation

Kierland Commons is a mixed-use town center located within the 730-acre Kierland master planned community at the edge of Scottsdale. The upscale development features a hotel, commercial office space, retail shops and restaurants along a three-block Main Street. At its center is a town square featuring a unique interactive fountain whose design is based on the concept of water caught after a rainstorm in the recesses of desert rock formations.

The water feature is an interactive play area in one of the main plazas, and provides a cooling respite to the desert heat. Intermittently, the fountain floods to create an oasis pool within the basin that then disappears. At night, the fountain jets are illuminated with colored fiber optics.



King Abdullah University Of Science And TechnologyThuwal, Saudi ArabiaClient: Saudi Aramco

Working with the architectural firm of HOK, Waterline executed numerous fountains in the public realm of this built research community.

The Public Realm fountains were located throughout the housing and retail areas providing water related amenities to the residents and shoppers.



Lafayette Park Fountain Washington, District of ColumbiaClient: National Park Service

Lafayette Park, a small park within Presidents Park, has a long and varied past. The space has been used as a racetrack, a graveyard, a zoo, a slave market, an encampment for soldiers, and a focal point for political protests and celebrations. The present park design was created by John Carl Warneke in the 1960s and the fountains were in severe disrepair when Waterline Studios was asked to assist in renovation for the Pope’s visit in 2008. Waterline’s evalu-ation found several design irregularities stemming from the use of industrial nozzles which required larger pumps and pipe sizes. Maintenance and water quality issues were addressed by modernizing the equipment which resulted in the reduction of the maintenance burden, and the consolidation of the points of maintenance to entirely within the equipment space.



The Mall at Partridge CreekClinton Township, MichiganClient: Starwood Retail Partners

Three water features anchor the various courts at this lifestyle center. Two classic style cast iron fountains provide abiance and a linear interactive fountain provides a play element and an exciting dynamic fountain display.



The Mall of San JuanSan Juan, Puerto RicoClient: The Taubman Company

The creative use of modern materials for these water features changes the vi-sual interest throughout the day. Located beneath skylights, the acrylic and tile reflect the natural light. The flow of water along with the glistening reflections provide a respite within the retail destination.



Meridian Hill ParkWashington, District of Columbia, USAClient: National Park Service

Started in 1914 and completed in 1936, the cascade in Meridian Hill Park was in a state of neglect when Waterline was called in to perform a forensic study of the fountain for the NPS. Through implementation of the recom-mended changes, the fountain was recommissioned in 2009 and once again operates as it was intended to almost one hundred years ago.



Motiva HeadquartersHouston, TexasClient: Motiva Enterprises

The water featue in the lobby of the Houston-based headquarters is a two-story rain curtain providing a dramatic auditory and focal point.

This water feature, located on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the existing building required precise coordination due to the constraints of working within the leasable space of an existing office building.



Muhammed Ali Cultural CenterLouisville, KentuckyClient: City of Louisville, Kentucky

Working with EDAW and artist Athena Tacha, this plaza was created to provide an open gathering space next to the recently completed cultural center. The fountain sources at a glass waterwall and cascades down the amphitheater steps over LED illuminated weirs and terminates in a star shaped pool at the base. The 48 sculptural glass columns have water flowing through them and provide a dynamic lighting event at night with individual LED fixtures under each column.



National Botanical GardenWashington, District of ColumbiaClient: National Park Service

The First Lady’s Fountain was designed as a tapestry of stone and is clad entirely in granite incuding monolithic granite weir walls. Water skims over the weirs and is introduced and removed without any visible hardware.



National Museum of the American IndianWashington, District of ColumbiaClient: The Smithsonian Institute

The water features at NMAI were designed with the Native American design team to evoke the sounds and sights of natural waterways. The formal fountain runs to the east to an ocular hole that removes water from the basin. The con-structed wetland utilizes captured rainwater from the building roof and moves it though the natural planting areas allowing for bio-filtration of the wetlands wa-ter. A large subterranean cistern allows for storage, re-circulation and treatment of the water while keeping it in circulation.



Nebraska State CapitolLincoln, NebraskaClient: State of Nebraska

The Nebraska State Capitol designed by Bertram Grosvenor Goodhue in 1920 is known as the “Tower on the Plains” for its integration of a functional tower central to the design. In 1933, the Nebraska Legislature re-appropriated the Capitol Commission’s unexpended budget leaving the four courtyard fountains incomplete.

In 2014, the State of Nebraska appropriated monies to complete the project to coincide with the 150th anniversary of the state.

Waterline provided design services for the water features including four (4) bronze bowls and collars cast to the original 1920 design drawings. The water features were placed in the original courtyard locations and utilized the existing historic tile finishes.



Nintendo of America Redmond, WashingtonClient: Nintendo of America

Nintendo’s North American subsidiary serves as the North American headquar-ters for the company. The facility includes space for the top management, li-censing executives, and game translators. The water feature creates a calming sound for the exterior pedestrian spaces and masks adjacent vehicular noises.



North Shore Riverfront ParkPittsburgh, PennsylvaniaClient: Sports and Exhibition Authority of Pittsburgh + Allegheny County

The City of Pittsburgh created a large park for the common area of the North Shore of the Allegheny River in Downtown Pittsburgh in conjunction with the construction of two new major league stadiums. The plan called for a large water feature that stepped down the bank from the promenade to the waterfront path. The water feature was designed to accommodate people entering the water as is common in public venues.

Large limestone blocks were used for the finishes to the fountain basins and the water flow can be varied from a light flow to a heavy cascade. Each stone was individually sized and documented to provide for the desired flows. Since the fountain terminates at the river’s edge, the design had to allow for the occasional flooding that occurs.



Parc Diagonal MarBarcelona, SpainClient: City of Barcelona, Department of Ecology, Urban and Mobility

Providing a gateway to the sea for locals and visitors, Parc Diagonal Mar was planned by EDAW and features play areas, lakes, a waterfall, an outdoor café, a fountain and viewing mounds, all linked by paths that lead to the beach. The park is conceived as an abstract tapestry in plan view, and is enjoyed from above by high-rise residents. The stainless steel manifolds are activated with misting nozzles to give the impression of floating clouds.

Ecology played a meaningful role in the park’s design. A regional retention pond and sections of shoreline edged with aquatic plants provide first flush cleansing of storm water, as well as a habitat for indigenous marine and bird species.



Promontory Business Park - Irrigation LakeGreeley, ColoradoClient: Tri-Point Development

A series of three lakes anchor this business development providing a tranquil setting for corporate clients. The lakes serve as a recreational ammenity for a nearby housing development as well as a break-out space for the employees of a major corporate tenant.

The lowest lake acts as an irrigation supply with a varying water level while the two upper lakes and the interconnecting stream beds stay at a constant level.



Rainmaker FountainPalm Springs, CaliforniaClient: City of Palm Springs

Built in 1999 for the city of Palm Springs, the rainmaker fountain emulates the rain cycle that supplies moisture to the city. The city routinely spent in excess of 70K a year for maintenance and was contemplating abandoning the fountain and demolishing the structure. Waterline evaluated the fountain and suggested several equipment modifications that vastly simplify the maintenance and increase public safety.



San Antonio Botanical GardensSan Antonio, TexasClient: San Antonio Botanical GardensThe botanical garden is a research and conservation facility providing commu-nity support and events. The garden’s recent Family Adventure Garden addition includes several water features that enhance the visitor experience.

The water features include an entry fountain, several reflecting pools, and an interactive stream simulating weather patterns. All water features utilize reuse and reclaimed water to facilitate the community water conservation goals.



San Antonio Children’s Museum - The DoSeumSan Antonio, TexasClient: San Antonio Children’s Museum

The DoSeum is regarded as one of the most state-of-the-art learning facilities in the United States. The DoSeum’s 65,000-square-foot building features exhibits unlike any other children’s museum in the country.

The water feature provides opportunies for children to learn about water courses while cooling down.



San Pedro Creek Culture ParkSan Antonio, TexasClient: Bexar County, City of San Antonio, + San Antonio River Authority

The project focuses on the creek’s beauty, history, and water management, as well as provides opportunity for development along the linear park.

The water feature includes public art installments, and provides passive cooling, visual interest, and masks sounds from adjacent freeways utilizing water from the creek.



Semper Fidelis Memorial Park Quantico, VirginiaClient: National Museum of the Marine Corps

The 10-acre Semper Fidelis Memorial Park creates an outdoor environment to reflect and inspire visitors in honoring our Marines. Situated adjacent to the National Museum of the Marine Corps, the park utilizes symbolic and cultural landscape gestures throughout to represent the lives of Marines. The series of water features provide a place for serenity and reflection.



Senate Underground Garage Fountain RenovationWashington, District of ColumbiaClient: Architect of the Capitol

The fountain atop the Senate Upper Park is a hexagonal granite monolith with high jets of water spouting from its center. It operated for the first time on July 16, 1932.

Waterline provided analysis and recommendations to renovate the historic fountain, and provided design services to reduce water loss, maintenance, and improve water quality. Construction is ongoing 2017 - 2019.



The Shops at Northfield StapletonDenver, ColoradoClient: Forest City

The re-development of the Stapleton Airport site included this lifestyle center and this art deco style water feature. The stainless steel cladding hides the supply pipes, nozzles and LED lighting which provides a festive display at night.

The fountain design allows the water effects to operate in moderate winds on the site.



The Shops at Wiregrass Wesley Chapel, FloridaClient: Forest City

This lifestyle center creates a community destination for North Tampa and creates a unique pedestrian experience for the shopper. A crescent shaped main street is oriented to the pedestrian and has three distinct plazas: one for community events, one for adults and one for families.

The water features private located at pedestrian crossings and rest areas provide traffic calming and sound abatement.



Skyspace - Pomona College Museum of ArtClaremont, CaliforniaClient: Pomona College

”Dividing the Light,” a Skyspace by James Turrell, is the most recent and per-haps most glowing example of public art on the Pomona College campus. The architectural installation heightens the viewer’s awareness of light, sky and the activity of perception.



Star City CasinoSydney, AustraliaClient: Sydney Casino Authority/Show Boat

Providing for public space along the entry stairs of the main casino, ten water features provide for a pedestrian respite. Each water feature was themed to compliment the theme of the particular entry point.

Water features were designed to allow natural light to penetrate into the bus corridor beneath the main stairs and include special effects such as fire.



Student Success CenterSavannah, GeorgiaClient: Armstrong State University

Student life services often serve as the heart of the campus, and at Armstrong Atlantic State University, a student success center was necessary to serve an increasing study body and help the University’s transition to a residential campus. The new facility provides a hub of activity on campus and connects the residential and academic quads.

The centerpiece of the TD Bank campus includes both passive and active water features provide both contemplative spaces and masking effects for the adjacent roadway.



Tivoli FountainOlympia, WashingtonClient: State of Washington, Department of Enterprise Services

The Tivoli Fountain was built in 1953, inspired by the benefactor’s visit to Tivoli Park in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1949. This fountain was inspired by the fountains of Villa d’Este in Tivoli, a town about 16 miles east of Rome that contains one of the finest surviving examples of a garden from the Renaissance period in Italy.

After an extensive analysis of the fountain’s current state of disrepair, Waterline provided recommendations to facilitate a successful renovation back to its original design intent.

Waterline provided design services for the water feature which provided a reduction in water loss, reduction in maintenance, and provided a more energy efficient system.



United States Consulate, IstanbulIstanbul, TurkeyClient: United States Department of State

Working with the architectural firm of ZGF in Portland and the design firm of Mia Lin, these water features were created with the artist to provide perfectly calm water surfaces within the design of sundials.

The entry fountain was designed to provide a thin film of water over the 8 meter (26.2 foot) diameter and to spill into a thin perimeter slot and return to a surge tank. Each granite panel had to be water jet cut to match perfectly with the score marks of the months of the year as well as the time of day lines.

The entire hydraulic system is concealed beneath the granite panels, and the joints in the granite provide the openings for the water to flow out and flood over the granite top. A custom LED fixture was designed to fit into the granite panels and provide individual light sources along the datelines scribed into the granite. The entire fountain was completed after the building had been finished.



Valley Medical CenterRenton, WashingtonClient: University of Washington Medical Center

This water feature is sited in the footprint of an exterior fountain located in the former arrival court of a hospital designed by Edward Durell Stone. The courtyard was enclosed in a glass clerestory created to be a lobby and patient screening area. The fountain was designed using clear acrylic material to com-pliment the use of glass and to take advantage of the light and ambiance of the space.



Victorian SquareSparks, NevadaClient: City of Sparks, Nevada

Victorian Square was designed to become northern Nevada’s entertainment, dining and specialty retail destination as well as home to many local celebrations and festivals. This four city block downtown revitalization project is anchored on the south by the Nugget Hotel & Casino, drawing 2 million visitors per year, and by a new 14-screen cineplex on the north.

The exciting design solution was developed and refined in on-site workshop sessions with the Mayor, City Council, City staff and interested citizens. All aspects of this project relate to a Victorian garden theme with special unique spaces such as the Court of the Rose, Court of Discovery, Fountain Plaza and Avenue of the Oaks, all surrounding the Central Oval Garden. Interactive water displays, rich paving materials and patterns, shaded seating areas and interactive exhibits add to the dynamic place Victorian Square is to become.



Westminster Center ParkWestminster, ColoradoClient: City of Westminster

A new city park near City Hall provides two distinct interactive water features, one with dynamic nozzles and a stream feature for toddler wading. A separate fountain basin has classical lion heads near a seating area adjacent to the interactive deck.

Women In Military Service for America MemorialArlington, VirginiaClient: United States Department of the Army

Dedicated in 1997, The Women in Military Service for America Memorial is located at the ceremonial entrance to Arlington National Cemetery and honors all women who have served in the United States Armed Forces.

The fountain creates a mass of water in a central alcove and flows gently to a large reflecting pool in the Court of Valor.



Wolf RanchColorado Springs, ColoradoClient: Private

This articulated water wall provides a white water background to the parks’ open space and provides for an auditory experience for the commons pavillion. A natural pond with subsurface aeration compliments the architectural water feature.



Zlote TarasyWarsaw, PolandClient: Golden Terraces

This commercial, office and entertainment venue opened in 2007 and features a stainless steel water wall that is illumintated by LED colored lights. Interior fountains feature laminar jets and pedestal water tables.

An exterior plaza interactive play fountain provides recreation opportunities to the the local patrons during the summer.
