WATERJET COMES OF AgE
Expand Your Market Potential with Waterjet Technology
Although waterjet cutting technology has been around for many years, recent advances have enabled shops
in record numbers to take advantage of its power and flexibility.
Waterjet can cut materials traditional metal cutting shops can’t work with. Reflective metals, stone, glass,
ceramic, plastic, rubber and foam – virtually any material up to 10 inches thick. Multiple heads can be used
to cut more parts at the same time in a different part of the sheet. All this adds up to increased productivity
and a wider range of work from a relatively inexpensive machine tool that is easy to learn and operate.
Minimal Fixturing and Tooling
One of the best things about waterjet technology is its simplicity – ultra high-pressure water combined
with a garnet abrasive functions as the cutting tool. There’s no need to buy an automatic tool changer, full
of costly tools and replacement inserts. And because cutting loads are small, waterjet requires minimal
fixturing, making setup fast and changeover to other applications easy.
No Heat-Affected Zone
Waterjet is a cold cutting technology. There is no contact between the waterjet head and the part to be cut,
just the high pressure stream of water. This results in parts that come off the machine with clean edges,
unaffected by heat distortion or other mechanical stresses, which means a reduction or elimination of
secondary finishing operations.
The Advantages of Waterjet from MC Machinery Systems, Inc.
The Mitsubishi CNC Control is the brains of our machines, and it is what makes our Waterjets so
unique. We have taken the expertise gained making Mitsubishi controls for extreme accuracy machining
technologies and brought them to Waterjet – combining world-class accuracy and performance with a highly
versatile and economical technology.
Our Mitsubishi Warranty is unique in the industry and shows our confidence in the performance and
longevity of our machines. And if you ever do need service, as part of the MC Machinery network, we have
the most extensive and responsive service in the industry.
Our abrasive removal system makes removing the residual garnet abrasive left in the tank a
simple process – greatly reducing cleanup and downtime found on competitive machines.

Metamation CAD-CAM is the software expressly developed for the processing of materials in 2D. It quickly and simply executes all contours and is
compatible with most drawing formats, including: DXF, DWG and IGES. With Metamation, it is possible to use an Automatic Nesting feature to select the
types and quantities of stored pieces to be laid on one or more plates, optimizing production and reducing waste. The software also allows the generation
of machining time estimates before actual production begins. These show estimated cutting lengths and machining time for the job.
The control features technology tables for the operator to easily select material, thickness and their desired finish quality. NC code is automatically
generated, ready to be transferred to the CNC by Ethernet, or USB memory stick. The software also allows the generating of an automatic estimation of the
work, before the actual production showing cut time and cutting lengths.
TAPER CONTROL SYSYTEM ( TCS ) (x4 on ly )
Taper control is extremely important to the production of high-precision parts with waterjet technology. A number of factors influence the
amount of taper in a cut, including cut speed the thickness and hardness of the material being cut. Greatly reducing cut speed is one way
to easily reduce or eliminate taper, but it comes at a great cost in productivity. The MW TCS system analyzes cuts and provides taper
control without the need for reducing speed by inclinating the high-pressure waterjet up to 6° while maintaining stream velocity. The result
is a final part that is produced faster and with straighter walls, regardless of the thickness or composition of the material being cut.
The Taper Control System utilizes independent servo motor control for both A and C axes motion allowing the user to virtually eliminate taper
caused by the natural characteristics of the waterjet stream.
Traditional Waterjet cutting was always limited to traditional x-y manipulation of the cutting head. The natural tendancy of the high pressure
waterjet stream is to rapidly lose energy as it propels farther from the nozzle tip. This natural loss of energy coupled with the cutting, or
erosion process, traditionally resulted in a “v-shaped” taper with the entry stream width dimension “narrower” then the exit stream width.
These dimensions, and therefore part accuracy, are exaggerated as the material grows in thickness.
With the Mitsubishi Taper Control System, the taper is virtually eliminated by automatically angling “away” from the part cut surface in
a calculated, automatically programmed, specific angle, determined through calculations from the database, resulting in a straight edge
throughout the thickness of the material. Typical results will show about .001” taper, per side, per 1/2” of thickness.
