Hydrolab is a company that designs, produces and pro-vides service of water purification systems for laboratory purposes.

Hydrolab is a leader on the Polish market in water puri-fication systems production. For 20 years Hydrolab has been introducing and implementing newest technologies of water purification by mechanical filtration, adsorption, iron removal, softening, membrane technologies (reverse osmosis, microfiltration, nanofiltration, ultrafiltration), as well as usage of 185nm and 254nm UV radiation and de-ionization.

In our offer we have more than a hundred models of wa-ter purification systems. On the basis of our experience and research, we designed and developed three series of demineralizers: TECHNICAL, HLP and SPRING, as an ideal solution fitting all of the requirements of a modern labo-ratory in areas of ultrapure water supply. We also made a variety of unique and innovative solutions, that extend our standard offer. These are: BASIC, POLISHING, R, PLUS and industrial systems: SPRING and TECHNICAL.

Demineralizers may be used in analytical laboratories, as well as dental operating rooms, beauty salons, and indu-stries: electronic, food, chemical, pharmaceutical etc. Hydrolab offers complex services of supplying laborato-ries with the highest quality water, giving advices in mat-ters of a demineralized water supply - providing support from planning to installation (with a full IQ, OQ, PQ docu-mentation).

The company has implemented the PN-EN ISO 9001:2009 quality management certificate in areas of design, pro-duction and service of water purification systems, which guarantees a high quality of our products and services.

ABOUT US

Clean water is the most important chemical reagent in a laboratory. Hydrolab offers systems producing water fit-ting the parameters of every water purity class, specified in PN-EN ISO 3696:1999, ASTM, CLSI, FP IX standards.

Ater quality in a modern laboratory, depending of a usa-ge purpose, should remain unchanged and proper, and its parameters (for example conductivity and temperature) should be constantly monitored. Basic standard of wa-ter quality in force in Poland are PN-EN ISO 3696:1999 for analytical laboratories, and Farmakopea Polska IX for pharmaceutical. The PN-EN ISO 3696:1999 standard de-scribes three classes of water purity:

Class 1Water without diluted contamination (colloidal ionic or or-ganic), fitting the strictest analytical requirements, inclu-ding a high-performance liquid chromatography. It is ad-vised to obtain it from second purity class water, treating it with further processes (for example reverse osmosis or deionization, and then filtering through 0,2μm membrane for substance removal, or double distillation in a quartz apparatus).

Class 2Water with very low non-organic, organic and colloidal con-tamination. Should be obtained by a distillation, or a di-stillation forwarded by a deionization or a reverse osmosis.

Class 3Water for general purposes, used for „wet” chemical ta-sks. Obtained by a single distillation, a deionization or a reverse osmosis.

Mechanical filtrationMechanical filtration is a basic and necessary method of water purification for most of our devices. It prepares the tap water for a softening process, an iron removal, a re-verse osmosis and a UV lamp radiation. Its efficiency de-pends on a sediment module type, to the quality of demi-neralized water. It is made of a netted, stringed or foamed polypropylene cartridge and a housing. It holds all sort of mechanical contamination, such as sand, mud, stain of a grain size from 100 μm to 1μm. A sediment’s module life-time depends on contamination type and varies between 3 and 6 months. Activated carbon filtrationContaminations existing in tap water are sorbed on an activated carbon. Hydrolab’s carbon modules prepare the tap water for further stages of purifcation process. They have a granulated or compressed activated carbon of 500-1000 nm permeability and a 1000 m2/g area. They indicate adsorption properties and remove chlorium, its derivatives and organic contamination extremely well, protecting the osmotic module. Large surface and per-meability, as well as material bound by it, make a good environment for microorganisms. Activated carbon filters should be regularly replaced for minimizing the bacteria accumulation. With 0,3 - 0,4 mg/dm3 chlorium concen-tration, a twice a year replacement should be sufficient. SofteningWater preparation for a reverse osmosis process, removes calcium and magnesium ions from water. Iron removalWater preparation for a reverse osmosis process, removes iron ions from water. Reverse osmosis module - ROAn RO membrane holds up to 96-99% of diluted organic and non-organic contamination. Osmotic water conducti-vity varies between a few to several μS/cm. Retention level (96-99%) depends on salinity, temperature, pressure and flow speed of tap water. A semi-permeable osmotic mem-brane consists of many layers wrapped on a perforated central tube situated inside the membrane. Contaminated water is pumped under pressure on the membrane’s sur-face, where water molecules by diffusion flow through the membrane. Contaminations are extracted, purified water flows through the central tube and under pressure exits the membrane.

Demineralization on an ionex resinDeionization modules contain ionex resins in an ion H+/OHˉ form. Osmotic water is purified on deionization co-lumns, where remaining mineral salts are captured. In an ion exchange process, existing ions and molecules in wa-ter, having a particular charge, are bound by ionites. After this process, the conductivity decreases to 0,055 μS/cm. UV lamp 254nmUV lamp radiation is used for disinfection. These devi-ces emit a radiation of a 254nm wave length, initiating a photochemical reaction damaging DNA structures of mi-croorganisms existing in water. This radiation causes an irreversible deactivation of bacteria, viruses, mold, fungus and other organisms. UV lamp consists of a radiation tube with a UV radiator, protected by a quartz housing, moun-ted inside. 8500h lifetime. UV lamp 185/254This device emits radiation of a 185 and 254nm wave length, damaging DNA structures and reducing TOC. 8500h lifetime. UltrafiltrationUltrafiltration is a low-pressure process of separation, using asymmetrical permeable membranes, of a 1-10μm radius, letting water, salts and saccharides flow through it, separating them from proteins and larger molecules. Reduces endotoxins extremely well. Microfiltration 0,2 μm (capsule)Microfiltration capsule is a ready-to-use flow filter inten-ded for sterilizing water. Made of a polypropylene housing and a double-layer membrane (cellulose acetate or poly-etherosulfone) with a 0,2 μm and 0,45 μm pore size. Wor-king surface is the pore amount equal to bacteria retained on a specific membrane area. It is 1 x 107 CFU/cm2 for the Brevundimonas diminuta.

SPRING demineralizers are devices fed by tap water, with extended equipment and advanced automatics. Similar to HLP series, SPRING systems produce water of 0,055 μS/cm conductivity, matching the requirements of stan-dards: PN-EN ISO 3696:1999, ASTM, CLSI, FP IX. These devices are intended for more demanding users, equipped with advanced automatics, that monitors the disposables usage, archiving data, allowing personalization of alarm levels for feed water, after reverse osmosis treatment and ultrapure, membrane rinsing, ultrapure water recircu-lation, and work with several adjutages simultaneously. Our devices also contain protection functions, that ensure that the system work is easy and comfortable.

In Spring systems, the demineralization process on ion exchange resins is based on the SQF system (Slow Qu-ick Flow), a new hydraulic solution allowing the filtrate recirculation, keeping the double demineralization. SQF results in a more efficient final demineralization by exten-ded contact of a filtrate with the resin, while keeping a high product emission rate.

Disposable modules count in SPRING systems is reduced to two: A (initial filtration) and B (cleaning column opera-ting in the SQF system), connected by quick connectors, so the replacement procedure may be performed easily by the user.
