1. This system protects local hazardous area by water mist where
fire most often occur.
2. Spaces protected by this system are:
1 MAIN ENGINE
2 AE #1 & #2
3 AE#3 & #44 BOILER
5 INCINERATOR
6 PURIFIER

6. Operation of this system is controlled by the water level float
switch fitted in Distill water tank. Ensure distill water tank have
sufficient water at all times.
MANUAL RELEASE OF SYSTEM
IN CASE OF FAILURE OF AUTOMATIC RELEASE.
1. Go to FIRE CONTROL STATION OR EHQ for manual
release.
2. Change over the mode of MANUAL RELEASE PANEL from
AUTOMATIC to LOCAL by key.
3. Manually activate the starting signal for pump to START bychanging the knob of affected space from AUTOMATIC to
LOCAL.
4. This action will start the pump, opens the section valve for
affected space/spaces & water mist releases to suppress the fire.

LOCAL RELEASE OF WATER MIST SYSTEMIF SYSTEM STILL FAILS TO START THE PUMP
1. Go to local pump starter panel in Engine room.
2. Change over the pump mode selection switch from
AUTOMATIC to LOCAL.
3. Pump will start, ensure the valve for the affected space/spaces
is/are open.
4. Water mist releases through sprinkler nozzles to suppress the fire
in space concerned.

NOTE !!!!!In case of electric failure ofsection valve it can be manuallyopened by turning the markedrelease button on the solenoidvalve as shown below.

Turn to open section valvemanually.
TESTING FOR MAINTENANCE OROPERATION CHECK DURING PORTSTATE INSPECTIONS /AUDITS
1. Testing to be done in rotation to ensure all sections are workingsatisfactorily.
2. Close all outlet valves.
3. Open all test valves.

4. Release sections in one of following ways:
- Activate two flame detectors of the one protected space for
release.
- Activate SPRINKLER RELEASE BUTTON locally in
protected space.
- From Manual Release Panel at FCS/EHQ, manually
release one section of protected space as explained earlier.

5. Check that pump starts, correct section valve opens, water being
discharged through drain/test valves & display on fire control
panel indicates WATER MIST SYSTEM RELEASED.
6. Reset the alarm on the FCP.
7. Check that section valve is closed & pump stopped.
8. Close test valve.
9. If required repeat test for other sections.
10.Open all outlet valves.
11. Log down all tests in Log book & NS5.
