Using rainwater for non‐potable purposes, helps conserve our drinking water supply and is better for plants than treated potable water, due to higher nitrogen levels. Please note rebates are only available to direct City of Round Rock water customers. (MUDs are not eligible) PROGRAM GUIDELINES ELIGIBILITY: Applicant must be a direct City of Round Rock water customer in good standing. (MUD customers are not eligible) Rainwater collected will only be used for non‐potable purposes and not connected to the City’s water supply. An itemized receipt must be submitted with the application within 45‐days of installation. Receipt must include date, vendor name and address, amount paid, and capacity of the barrel. The City does not endorse specific brands, nor is responsible for the performance or repair of barrels. Applicant is responsible for obtaining HOA approval, if applicable. HOAs cannot prohibit rainwater harvesting in the City of Round Rock; however, they may dictate where the barrels may be located on your property. Rebates are available until funds have been expended. Visit roundrocktexas.gov/rebates for available rebates. Once funds are exhausted the rebate program will no longer appear on the website. REBATE DETAILS: Rebate is $0.50 per gallon of storage capacity, not to exceed barrel purchase price. Rebate is 50% of the purchase price of pad material, overflow, first flush, and pump to distribute the water. Rebate is 25% of the cost (up to $200) of gutters, as part of a rainwater collection project. Rebate does not include labor costs and is only for gutters connected to a rainwater collection project. Maximum rebate amount is $600 per water account, per year. Rebate amount does not apply to tax. All rainwater collection/harvesting equipment is exempt from sales tax per Section 151.355 of the Texas Tax Code. To claim this exemption, purchaser must furnish a Tax Exemption Application Form 01‐339 to the supplier at time of purchase. Form is available at http://www.window.state.tx.us/taxinfo/taxforms/01‐339.pdf. BARREL REQUIREMENTS: Only newly purchased barrels are eligible. Used or self‐made barrels are not eligible. Must be dark‐colored or have an internal liner to prevent sunlight from penetrating the tank. Must have screens on opening to prevent debris, insects, or animals from entering barrel. Must have a pipe to direct the overflow water away from the base to prevent erosion and localized flooding. If barrel is made of galvanized metal or wood, it must have an interior liner to prevent rusting or rotting. Barrels must be level on the ground or on a pad site made of concrete, gravel or sand.

Rainwater Collection Rebate Application
