EventsFor large zoo events, please refer to the Facilities Department guide for waste sorting.
Prior to any large event, please contact the Waste to Energy Staff member to discuss a waste disposal plan.
Suggested practices include:•Contract language outlining waste to energy guidelines•Only compostable service ware (dishes, flatware, cups, etc.) to be used on zoo grounds•All metals and glass will be recycled in proper receptacle•Cardboard needs to be broken down and segregated from other recyclables•Any handouts to guests need to meet waste to energy guidelines
For events such as Boo at the Zoo (or similar types of events), special consideration needs to be made for waste generated during this event due to foil candy wrappers.
