    WASTE AND RECYCLING GUIDE

    2019/2020

  • BIN TAGGING

Bin tagging provides feedback on the contents of your waste and recycling bins. Bin auditors conduct a simple visual assessment of the contents of each bin at the kerbside (prior to collection) and place a tag on each bin to indicate if the contents are appropriate.

The tags provide specific feedback on the content of the bin as well as some general guidance on what can and can’t be placed in the kerbside bin.

    BIN TAGGING

    Bin Tagging Program

The Bin Tagging Program focuses on reducing contamination and increasing resource recovery from the kerbside system.

General educational information alone does not necessarily change community recycling behaviour.

Bins are chosen at random and bin auditors conduct a simple visual assessment of the contents of both bins at the kerbside (prior to collection) and place a tag on each bin to indicate if the contents are appropriate.

The tags provide specific feedback on the contents of the bin as well as some general guidance on what can and cannot be placed in the kerbside bin.

    BIN TAGGING PROGRAM

  • BIN TAGGINGAUSTRALASIAN RECYCLING LABELThe Australasian Recycling Label removes recycling confusion, saves time and reduces waste.

What is the ARL?The Australasian Recycling Label (ARL) is an evidence-based standardised system that provides you with easy to understand recycling information for packaging. It shows what needs to be done with each piece of a package to dispose of it in the best way.

Why do we need it?Australian and New Zealanders are keen to recycle but are often confused about what packaging is recyclable and what isn’t. The ARL is designed to reduce this confusion with clear, on-pack instructions on what do to.

Many products already have the ARL

And many more items are being labelled everyday!

  • BIN TAGGINGAUSTRALASIAN RECYCLING LABEL

RecyclableLook for a black recycling symbol.Separate each item and place it in

    your recycling bin.

Conditionally RecyclableLook for a white recycling symbol.

Can be recycled ONLY if you follow the instructions below the symbol.

Not RecyclableLook for a rubbish bin symbol.

Place it in your rubbish bin, this is NOT recyclable.
