State’s Efforts to Promote EITC

• Planning grants to start asset building coalitions• Annual EITC Campaign• Technical assistance and best practices resources

Asset Building Planning Grants

• Annual Request for Proposals to fund asset building coalitions• Grants range from $5,000 - $50,000 depending on funding

• Free tax prep and EITC outreach are required activities of the grant

• Eligible activities include free tax prep, foreclosure prevention, credit counseling, financial education, benefits coordination, homeownership, etc.

• To date 15 coalitions have been started (see map)

Annual EITC Campaign

• November – May • Gear up for marketing campaign, coordinate with other

state agencies, update marketing materials

• Marketing• Partner with DSHS, ESD and WIN 211.• 15 coalitions including United Ways, CAPs, and non-profits

• Collateral Production and Mailing• Over 1 million mailings to public benefits recipients• Radio and TV ads in rural and underserved areas

Technical Assistance and Resources

• EITC Learning Group• Monthly EITC calls

• Network with peers around the state

• Learn best practices and share innovations

• Share National EITC Resources• Announce trainings and volunteer opportunities
