Discipleship is equip(ping) His people for works of service(ministry), so that the body of Christ may be built up (Ephesians 4: 12) 10. Discipleship is Doing [that they should do] the work of ministering toward building up Christs body (the church) (Ephesians 4: 12 AMP) 11. Question How do you do discipleship? How do you do the work of the ministry? 12. Colossians 3: 16 (AMP) Let the Word [spoken by] Christ (the Messiah) have its home [in your hearts and minds] and dwell in you in [all its] richness, as you teach and admonish(nouthet) and train one another in all insight and intelligence and wisdom [in spiritual things, and as you sing] psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, making melody to God with [His] grace in your hearts. 13. Discipleship is you (and I) teach(ing) and admonish(ing) and train(ing) one another (Counseling One Another) 14. Question What does counseling mean to you? What does counseling mean from a secular view? a Biblical view? 15. Romans 15: 14 (AMP) Personally I am satisfied about you, my brethren, that you yourselves are rich in goodness, amply filled with all [spiritual] knowledge and competent to admonish and counsel and instruct (Gk. nouthet) one another also. 16. Greek- nouthet to admonish, to instruct, to warn, to exhort, to counsel 17. Questions or Comments 18. Romans 15: 1-2, 4 We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves. 2 Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up. 4 For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope. 19. Galatians 6: 1-2 Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted. 2 Carry each others burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. 20. Question What is the Law of Christ? 21. Mark 12: 29-31 29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: 30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. 31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. 22. Hebrew Roots-The Shema Sh'ma Yis'ra'eil Adonai Eloheinu Adonai echad. Hear, Israel, the Lord is our God, the Lord is One. 23. Luke 10: 30-32 (NIV) 30 In reply Jesus said: A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. 31 A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. 32 So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 24. Luke 10: 33-34 (NIV) 33 But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. 34 He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. 25. Luke 10: 35-37 (NIV) 35 The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper. Look after him, he said, and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have. 36 Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers? 37 The expert in the law replied, The one who had mercy on him. Jesus told him, Go and do likewise. 26. Questions or Comments 27. (Not) The End To Be Continued
