Attendance Reminders

WHS would kindly ask that you take a moment & review some of these helpful attendance reminders:

Students not in class at the start of the instructional day (8:00 AM) will be marked tardy. Students who accrue four tardies in any class are subject to the consequences outlined in the student handbook.

Absences are accumulated on a class-by-class basis. Students who accrue more than 7 absences in a class are at risk of not receiving credit unless they participate in credit recovery.

All absences count toward the above-mentioned 7 absences. Absences will be counted as unexcused until a note specifying the reason for the absence has been provided to the Attendance Counselor.

Documentation specifying the reason for an absence should be presented to the Attendance Counselor as soon as the student returns to school.

Only parent/guardians or emergency contacts will be allowed to check out students from school.

Students must sign in or out with the main office when they arrive late or leave early.

Students who wish to leave early must present a signed parent note to main office prior to 8 AM. The student will be issued an early dismissal notice once the note has been verified.

Please contact our Attendance Counselor, Ms. Glenna Bowen ([email protected]), with questions.

Parent Portal & PowerSchool Apps

The Parent Portal feature of PowerSchool is currently active and we would like to encourage you to stay abreast

of your student’s academic progress in his/her courses. Parent portal allows parents to monitor their student’s

academic progress and attendance throughout the grading period. Please contact our Data Manager, Ms.

Donna Callahan ([email protected]), if you need to obtain a login ID and password or if you need

assistance accessing this service.
