Your money mattersIf you are aged 16-18, you will not pay any tuition fees or your first examination fee.

Learner Support Funds for students aged 16-18 and 19+ years are available. Please come in to Learner Services to discuss whether you may be eligible to access these funds. The funds can be

used to help you with the costs associated with studying, including travel, equipment, uniforms, trips and residentials, as well as helping those in financial hardship. There are also funds available to help students pay for childcare whilst they are at college.

A Bursary of £1,200 is guaranteed for 16-18 year old students who:-• are children in care • Care leavers • are in receipt of income support• are in receipt of ESA together with DSA

If you are 19 years of age or over, you may be eligible for fee remission. This means that you may only need to pay additional costs (e.g. equipment, uniform).

Full fee remission (tuition and examination costs) is available if you are studying a Skills Funding

Agency (SFA) funded classroom based course and you are*:• In receipt of Job Seekers Allowance (JSA) or Employment Support Allowance (ESA) in a work related

activity group or Universal Credit• An adult aged 19-23 without a level 2 qualification undertaking a level 1 qualification as a progression

route to a level 2• An adult aged 19-23 undertaking your first full level 2 qualification **• An adult aged 19-23 undertaking your first full level 3 qualification ***• An adult undertaking an Adult Basic Skills qualification (ie Functional Skills in English and Maths)• An adult undertaking GCSE English and/or Maths who has not already obtained a grade C or above

in English and/or Maths• An unemployed adult in receipt of a state benefit (other than JSA or ESA (WRAG) or Universal Credit)

who wants to enter employment and needs the skills training to do so

* Students must complete and sign a self-declaration form at the time of enrolment to receive level 1, full level 2, full level 3 fee, GCSE or state benefit remission.**Full Level 2: free course to adults aged 19-23 who do not already have a qualification at this level.***Full Level 3: free course to adults aged 19-23 who do not already have a qualification at this level.

You can pay for your course by cheque or bank card. Alternatively it may be easier for you to spread the cost of your course over several payments, rather than paying in one lump sum. Payment can be spread over 9 monthly instalments depending on the duration and type of course. There is a £20 charge for setting up an instalment plan. All students aged 24+ and studying a Level 3 or 4 course are now required to pay tuition fees. To ensure everyone has the opportunity and right to study, 24+ loans have been introduced which are not means tested, thus ensuring equality. 24 + loans are available for select courses at Warrington Collegiate that are highlighted throughout the course guide.

It is the responsibility of the student to apply for a loan. Advice and support from Warrington Collegiate’s Learner Services team will be provided during the process. To qualify for a loan you need to be:

• Aged 24 and over at the start of the course

• A resident in the UK for 3 years prior to the start of the course

• Enrolling on a course at Level 3/4, such as A Levels, Access to Higher Education, Diplomas and Certificates, Advanced Apprenticeships or Higher Apprenticeships, Qualifications and Credit Framework Level 4 Certificate, Qualifications and Credit Framework Level 4 Diploma

Your guide to qualifications

Choosing the right levelQualifications are available at a variety of different levels and the right level for you depends on your existing qualifications and also on your work experience. Please refer to the table below to help you decide which level is right for you.

Entry Level Entry level qualifications are for beginners and are designed to assist you in gaining basic knowledge and skills

Level 1 Level 1 courses are designed to enable you to gain a basic level of knowledge and skills in the relevant subject area and are the first step in gaining a vocational qualification

Level 2 Level 2 qualifications are equivalent to GCSEs and provide you with an intermediate level of knowledge and skills

Level 3Level 3 qualifications are equivalent to A levels and provide you with advanced knowledge and skills. Level 3 qualifications also provide an ideal progression route to higher education

Level 4 Level 4 qualifications are at higher education level and are equivalent to the first year of a university degree

Level 5 Level 5 qualifications are at higher education level and are equivalent to the second year of a university degree

Level 6 Level 6 qualifications are at higher education level and are equivalent to the third and final year of a university degree

Level 7 Level 7 is equivalent to Masters Degree level
