Last week many of our senior students attended an Inspiring lunch
where students, local businesses and community members look at the
opportunities available to our graduates. At this lunch it is typical for a
key speaker to highlight these opportunities in an attempted to inspire
our graduates. This year the senior students decided to showcase what
they could provide the community. From all accounts the local
business and community members were stunned by the range of skills
and vision our graduates have. The organisers of the event have been
inundated by positive comments from the community members in
attendance. This positive praise is a reflection of the hard work that our
school community has put into developing our students skills for life.
Our school community is made up of many different blends of families
supporting children with various disabilities. This week I would like to
acknowledge the grand parents who are bringing up their
grandchildren. At our school over 10% of students live with their
grandparents. These grandparents do a great job raising their
grandchildren and supporting their education. We appreciate the
good work you do. To all of the parents and carers we also extend our
thanks for the effort you put into supporting and raising the students at
our school.
A BIG thank you to Glenda Grey for the work she has put into
organising book week. This year a large number of students have
purchased books resulting in a record number of sales (over $1,700).
Enjoy your books and enjoy reading them with your family.
With the year fast approaching its end, we have some exciting events
happening to celebrate the learning we have accomplished this year.
One of the main events of the calendar year is the school concert. This
year it will be held on the school oval. Fingers crossed that the weather
is fine and sunny. We will also be celebrating our graduate students
with a graduate camp and a graduate lunch. It is exciting to see the
transition options selected by these students and their families and we
wish them every success for next year.
Last Monday and Tuesday Room 1 went on camp,
staying at the Garfield North Outdoor education
camp. On Monday we made our way to Emerald and
caught Puffing Billy to Gembrook. After having lunch in
the park (and an ice-cream at the station) we
boarded Puffing Billy again back to Emerald. We loved
hearing the train whistle.
On Tuesday we went to Jump Crazy and had a fabulous time! Then had a Happy
Meal at McDonalds and headed back to school. Happy………but exhausted!!!!
School Fees 2018 - there are still
quite a number of families who
have not yet paid
2018 School Fees - $100
(Essential Student Learning Items)
If your fees are outstanding can you please arrange for payment to be
made or contact the office to organise a payment plan. Payment of
Essential Items allows the school to purchase student school supplies
such as such as pencils, pens, books, art supplies etc .
At $100 per year our school fees are also amongst the cheapest in the
region.
LAST CANTEEN FOR THE YEAR IS THIS THURSDAY

Senior Students have been reading and discussing
the book Wisp - A Story of Hope, when asked what
Hope means to them, Jack T produced the following
piece of work. Beautifully written Jack, well done!
Hope
Hope is not something you buy or earn, it is
something that is inside of you to give you insight
and happiness. It is like a boat helping you to sail
through the tough current. It is like a bird broken
out of its cage for freedom.
