The Value of Dynamic Activities - Every classroom is made up of unique individuals
with different learning styles and expectations.
- Dynamic activities can be used to eliminate pena in the classroom and to motivate students in a structured environment.
- Let’s play Trashketball!
What was the Ice Breaker that we used today at the beginning of class and how was it helpful?
An Ice breaker is an activity used at the beginning of a lesson to help to build unity, teamwork, community, and improved group dynamics. Ice breakers are also very helpful when used at the beginning of the new school year to get to know each other.
Warm up
A warm up is an activity that can be developed at thebeginning of a lesson to focus students on the topic and alsoto activate background knowledge present in the students.
THINK, PAIR, SHAREWhat was the last successful warm up that you used in the classroom and how did it benefit the students?
Time FillersInstead of wasting class time, rely on an arsenal of activities that can be used in a variety of situations in the classroom to:
- Re-activate student motivation in the topic
- To fill time at end of class if the lesson finished early
You never know when you might need to pull something fun and new out of your teaching hat!
Hot Cabbage
Participants will discuss the different reasons for using dynamic activities in the classroom.
PracticeDivide into groups and adapt a dynamic activity to your group’s lesson and present to the class.
GamesGames are not activities to break the ice or to kill time. On the contrary,
game is an activity with rules, a goal and an element of fun. It must be
adapted in order to fit students' language level, natures, and characteristics.
The most important factor is that games should be used when they can give
students both fun and educational meaning otherwise they will be a waste of
time.
WARM-UPS, TIME FILLERS, AND ICEBREAKERS ARE VERY
IMPORTANT IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF CLASS BECAUSE THEY
HELP US TO CATCH THE STUDENTS' ATTENTION AND INTEREST.
THEY ARE EXCELLENT WAYS TO MAKE OUR CLASSES FUNNIER
AND NICER AND TO BREAK THE MONOTONY THAT STUDENTS
ARE USED TO EXPERIENCING IN SCHOOL.
THANK YOU!
