Dear Parents and Guardians, Since kindness is one of our core values at AES, we have decided to partici- pate in The Great Kindness Challenge. During the weeks of February 8th and February 15th, the students and staff at AES will focus on performing as many acts of kindness as possible. We invite you to join us in this challenge. On the back of this newsletter, you will find a copy ofThe Great Kindness Challenge checklist. Each class will receive a copy of this checklist on Febru- ary 8th. Using the checklist, staff and students will work independently, in small groups, and as a whole class to complete all 50 challenges. While staff and students will be encouraged to continue sharing their kindness at home, in the Antrim community, and in our world, each class will keep track of the 50 kind acts that take place at school. In addition to The Great Kindness Challenge, the theme of kindness will be highlighted throughout the two weeks. Our first week will be Spirit Week during which we will integrate our focus on kindness with our “regular” Spirit Week fun. For more information, see the “Mark Your Calendars” section to the right or the AES website. Our second week will incorporate a different kindness related activity each day—kindness posters, door decorating, kind- ness read alouds, etc. The two weeks will culminate in a special school assem- bly on Thursday, February 18th at 9:10am and AES Art Day on Friday, Febru- ary 19th. All of the Art Day stations will incorporate the theme of kindness. The staff at AES not only believe that your children will thoroughly enjoy these two weeks of kindness, we also believe the planned activities will en- gage students and staff in maintaining a school culture of acceptance, toler- ance, unity, and respect. many acts of kindness as possible. We invite you to join us in this challenge.

small groups, and as a whole class to complete all 50 challenges. While staff

and students will be encouraged to continue sharing their kindness at home,

in the Antrim community, and in our world, each class will keep track of the

50 kind acts that take place at school.

In addition to The Great Kindness Challenge, the theme of kindness will be

highlighted throughout the two weeks. Our first week will be Spirit Week during which we will integrate our focus on kindness with our “regular” Spirit
