In December 2019, a SARS-CoV–like coronavirus, now declared as COVID-19 by the World Health Organisation, has emerged in Hubei Province of China and has spread rapidly in mainland China and to other parts of the world.1,2

Despite of the rapid spread of the virus, the fact that children seem to be reasonably sub-clinical or asymptomatic , coupled with the statistics which showed that not many children are being hospitalised for serious illness due to this infection, is perhaps an attestation that their immune system is doing well at countering the virus when it �rst invades the body.3

A high fever brings the risk of a convulsion as well as causing discomfort and increasing �uid loss. Fever is a common response to a variety of conditions, in fact, it is a physiologic mechanism that has bene�cial effects in �ghting infection.1

Poro® preparations that contain paracetamol is often used as the preferred antipyretic because it has fewer adverse effects when used within the recommended therapeutic dosage and lower incidence of accidental poisoning. Paracetamol is approved for managing fever in children from the age of two months. The use of paracetamol is recommended to prevent and treat fever after Meningitis B vaccination.2 It will also reduce the possibility of the baby experiencing irritation or discomfort (such as pain at the site of injection).However, routine use of antipyretics in low-grade fever may not be justi�ed. This may mask important clinical indications.3 Without proper diagnosis, the use of non-steroidal anti-in�ammatory drugs (NSAIDs) on children aged below �ve years for the purpose of reducing fever could expose them to a higher risk of in�uenza complications.4 NSAIDs include aspirin, ibuprofen, diclofenac and naproxen.

Voren® preparations contain diclofenac sodium is a preferential COX-2 inhibitor that has been extensively used for the treatment of acute and chronic in�ammatory pain. It is commonly used for short-term post-operative pain relief in children. Pre-operative rectal diclofenac provided effective analgesia in the immediate post-operative period, as evidenced by reduced pain scores and reduced opioid requirement.5

With accurate diagnosis, the use of Voren® containing diclofenac sodium itself does not cause In�uenza-Associated Encephalopathy (IAE). However in the presence of in�uenza-like illness (ILI), the use of all types of NSAIDs is discouraged.

Each Voker Film Coated Tablet contains 20mg or 40mg famotidine.• On a weight basis, famotidine is approximately 8 times more potent than ranitidine and 40 times more potent than cimetidine.2

Conpanzole® provides symptomatic relief and healing of oesophagitis, gastritis, duodenal and peptic ulcers. It is also used in prevention of relapsing GERD which often lead to further complications.

Clinical Study To compare ef�cacy and tolerability of four PPIs commonly used in the short-term therapy of oesophagitis in elderly patients.3

ConclusionIn elderly patients, pantoprazole and rabeprazole were signi�cantly more effective than omeprazole in healing oesophagitis and than omeprazole or lansoprazole in improving symptoms. H. pylori infection did not in�uence the healing rates of oesophagitis after a short-term treatment with PPI.
