Academy Update: Amanda Cameron (Acting Principal)
Greetings to everyone from a very cold Walton Hall Academy with brac-
ing Siberian winds blasting across the site!
Our students returned today (after a well deserved half term break ) to
find the campus covered in a dusting of snow and a bad week forecast
ahead. Hopefully we will be able too keep the school open but in the
event of a closure, we will notify you as soon as possible.
We have a busy month ahead of us with “science week” commencing
on the 12th March. Students will have the opportunity to watch
demonstrations and try out a range of investigations for themselves.
This Friday, we are holding a fundraising evening towards the planned
Key Stage 3 sensory room. Please support this event if you possibly
can. We also have been sent sponsor forms for the Stafford Rugby club
members who are running the half marathon to raise funds for a
sunken trampoline so we are able to offer rebound therapy. If anyone
would be willing to sponsor them please let us know.
On 28th of March we welcome you all to join us for our Preparation for
Adult Life evening. We have many stalls and displays about support
and opportunities for our students beyond school.
Exam time is sneaking up on us and we wish key stage 4 and 5 stu-
dents all the best in their examinations starting at the end of March.
Keeping in contact: we need to have up to date contact details to en-
sure we can share information and contact you in the event of an
emergency. If you have not yet returned your completed Data Collec-
tion sheet to school please do so as soon as possible. You can now fol-
low us on Facebook and Twitter! See above for our addresses.
News from the farm: we have a new baby budgie hatched on the 12th
of February. He or she is growing rapidly and is up for adoption under
our animal sponsorship scheme. See overleaf for further details.
The lighter days mean the chickens have gone into egg laying mode so
we now have lots of eggs available for a donation of £1 per box. We al-
ways welcome donations of fruit, veg, salad, bread or cake that has
gone dry perhaps -but definitely not moldy! Don’t throw it away, send
into school and we will recycle via our ever grateful animals!

Preparation for Adult Life
We want to give our young people as
many opportunities as possible to ob-
tain advice from leading experts on
preparation for a successful transition
in to their adult life. As part of this prep-
aration, we would like to invite you to
come along with your son/ daughter
to our Preparation for Adult Life Even-
ing. There will be many representatives
from various services and companies
in the area who will offer advice and
assistance to our young people. It will
be an opportunity for our students to ask questions and to gather infor-
mation for their next step in life. Details of the organisations attending will
be sent out nearer the time.

Yoga in Key Stage 3
Some students have been learning about yoga, mindfulness and medi-taon. We have discussed the im-portance of exercise and the posive impact it has on our emoonal well-being. The students have learnt a range of Yoga posions, pracced relaxaon techniques and worked collaboravely to develop yoga se-quences that work all muscles in the body developing muscle tone and posture. The pro-gress in student perfor-mance over the weeks has been outstanding and lovely to observe.
