• The trees of the Amazon absorb carbon dioxide and breathe out
oxygen. In fact, they produce 20% of all the world’s oxygen!
• The Amazon is the most biodiverse place on Earth.
• Scientists believe there are many more species of plants and animals to
discover. Clearing the forest would be ‘like destroying a book we
haven’t yet read’, they say.
