So, you just had a beautiful color and weeks have gone by and you notice that your

color is fading or lighting too fast.


What can you do?


Here are some tips and tricks to make your color last

longer.


1. Shampoo is Everything


Using a sulfate free shampoo can play a big factor.The

ingredients in your shampoo can be too abrasive and strip

out your color even if it is organic.


Rinse your hair out until there are no bubbles. If you have thick or long hair, split your hair down the middle in

the back crown and rinse, rinse, rinse.


This will help with dryness that started with you not

taking the time to rinse all of your shampoo out.


Think about it – if you’re not taking the time to rinse your hair thoroughly the detergent from your shampoo is still in

your hair.


2. Temperature is Everything


We all love hot showers but your hair doesn’t. Turn down

the temperature when washing your hair.


For those of you that have babies think, “what

temperature do I wash my 6 month old baby?”


You want to open your cuticle somewhat but, not all the way. This will prevent your color or semi-permanent

color from escaping.


If you’re a blond and you just had low lights put in your hair it is very porous and we don’t want that new hue to escape.


3. Leave-In Conditioner


Using a leave in conditioner that has a thermal protector is very important. It protects

your hair from the heat of your blow dryer,


flat iron, curling wand, hot rollers and even the sun.


When having a consultation with my clients they say they avoid the sun but we always get some sun exposure. Here

are some examples:


• sun roof• gardening• kids soccer games• shopping


• festivals• concert at the park• tennis• etc


The sun is like bleach it will bleach out your hair.

Make sure you spray your hair in the areas that get the

most sun exposure.
