The purchase of McLane was Wal-Mart’s entry pointinto food distribution and sales. McLane is a grocery distribution center with 16 loca-tions. Besides Wal-Marts and Sam’s Clubs McLane services 7-11 stores and manyrestaurant chains. McLane is the largest tobacco distribution operation in the countryand it continues to grow.
