•A Treasury Board Minute (TB) #648468 transfers administration and control of the Wallace Hill property from the Department of National Defence to the Federal Crown with the purpose: “To provide a site for the relocation of Indians close to a centre of employment.”

January 4, 1966:
•Crown Assets Disposal Corporation approves the transfer in the Treasury Board Minute (TB) #648468.
Wallace HillSeptember 30, 1966:
•Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development or DIAND (now called Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada) formally takes over the property from the Department of National Defence.
Wallace HillOctober 22, 1973:
• The Shubenacadie Band Council submits a Band Council Resolution (BCR) requesting the transfer of the body of lands known a “Hammonds Plains” to be transferred to the jurisdiction of the Shubenacadie Band for development.
• BCR also requests “that funds be made available to the Band Council … to enable the development of a feasible project to be installed on this body of land.”
• Signed by Chief John Knockwood.

•The Shubenacadie Band Council requests by BCR the Wallace Hill property be turned over to the Shubenacadie Band.

•Shubenacadie Band Council passes a BCR requesting that TB Minute #648468 to be amended as follows:

1.That the property known as Wallace Hill be declared Indian Reserve land.
2.That the property when reserve status is granted, be turned over to our band as a reserve of the Shubenacadie Band for the following reasons:

a)To provide a site for the relocation of Shubenacadie Band members who are working or seeking employment in the Halifax metro area and do not wish to reside off reserve. The property is located 14 miles (23 km) from downtown Halifax.

b)There is now one Indian family residing on this land and they are members of the Shubenacadie Band.
c)There have been many requests and inquiries from our band members in respect to this property for establishment (of) economic development enterprises

•Millbrook Band passes a BCR that states:
•“That we, the Truro Band Council, agreed and support that the lands situated at Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia, formerly the property of National Defence, be reverted to Indian lands, under the district control of the Indian Brook Band Council.”

•A resolution is signed by Nova Scotia chiefs requesting “that the property known as ‘Wallace Hill’ be granted as a reserve status and that this land be made part of the Shubenacadie Band.
•Shubenacadie Band Chief Reg Maloney is among the signatories of this resolution.

•Membertou Band Council passes a BCR that states:
•“That we, the Membertou Band Council, agreed and support that the lands situated at Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia, formerly the property of National Defence, be reverted to Indian lands, under the direct control of the Indian Brook Band Council.”

•Although several recommendations were made by the Atlantic Regional Office of DIAND to their Headquarters, Wallace Hill has not been granted reserve status.

•Shubenacadie Band Council passes another BCR regarding Wallace Hill.

Be it resolved that:
1.A small area is to be set aside for housing to be serviced by individual wells and septic tank systems for those band members wishing to move to the Halifax area.
2.To keep the balance of the property free of development until municipal services are provided by the County and/or when Council has a better idea of the development potential of the site and the surrounding area. Until that time, the natural potential of the land, forestry, minerals, etc., will be utilized by and for the benefit of the band members.

Be it resolved that:
3.Main concern of the Council of this moment is that the Wallace Hill property be made part of the land holdings of the Shubenacadie Band, as recommended by all of the Chiefs in Nova Scotia and agreed to by the Regional Director General, Mr. R. Witt.
4.Other interested parties in the property will consult and deal with the Band Council.

•Wallace Hill IR#14A is officially created and becomes part of the Shubenacadie Band through the Additions to Reserve Policy of Indian and Northern Affairs Canada (AANDC).
•Announcement isn’t officially made until June 9, 2011.
•The Wallace Hill Indian Reserve 14A is approximately 54 hectares (135 acres) in size.

•Shubenacadie Band Council passes a BCR that states “that until the Shubenacadie Band has enacted a Land Use Bylaw for the Wallace Hill Reserve, no settlment or development of any kind at Wallace Hill shall be permitted or valid unless Council has passed a Band Council Resolution specifically permitting the settlement development.”

•Shubenacadie Band Council passes a BCR that states “any band developments involving gaming matters will be with 100 per cent ownership of the band unless agreed otherwise with full community support through a community referendum.”

•Shubenacadie Band Council passes a BCR to take part in AANDC’s new Land Use Planning Pilot Project (LUPP).
•The band requests in BCR for financial support from AANDC for the project proposal titled “Designation and Development Planning - Wallace Hill Reserve”
