Concept Statement BostonissuchanactivecityandtheBostonChildren’sHospitalreflectsthat.The central idea of the hospital design was to create public spaces for the children tointeractwiththeirvisitors.Thecourtyardonthe2ndlevelandthecubedbalconyonthepatientfloor,aretheactivityzonesofthehospital.Intheroom,thewindows that extrude over the city provide the patients with the opportunity tointeractfromafarwithBoston.

Concept Statement ThecharterschoolinBirminghamwasmylatestproject.ThesitewasintheCivilRightsDistrictofBirmingham,adjacentfromthe16thSt.BaptistChurch.Theidea of this charter school is to end segregation in the area and create a multicul-turalschool.Thefunctionofthebuildingmustserveasaplaceforvariousactivi-ties to be held and encourage the liveliness of the students to help activate the school.Byengagingwiththeschoolandwitheachother,thestudentswilllearnfromeachother,learnfromtheirhistory,andgrowtowardstheirfuture.

Concept Statement Thisprojectwasworkedonduringfallof2011.WeweretoredesigntheAIAheadquarterofficeinBirmingham,Alabama.Mysitewasdowntownoff21stStreet.ThedowntownareaofBirminghamislifelessandpracticallyaban-donedinthestreets.Thecityneedsabuildingthatwillinspirearejuvenationofthearea.TheAIAbuildingshouldbedesignedandbuiltdowntowntoshowthenewrenovationandhopeforthecity.TheRailroadParkareaandLakeviewarea have been developed or are in the process of being developed; therefore thecenterofBirminghamneedssomethingtoreviveit.Bydesigningapositivebuilding that showcases future projects, new life will be brought to the site and community.

Fortheentirespringsemesterof2ndyear,weworkedonamuseumforthetownofWetumpka,AL.Wetumpkaisknownforthemeteorthathitmillionsofyearsago,andleftahugecrateroutsideofthetown.Themuseumwastobeplaced overlooking the crater, therefore the site had a steep drop that had to be addressed.

Duringthefallof2011,wetookasitevisittoNewYorkCitytostudytheHighline.Our project was to design the facade of a highrise apartment complex adjacent to theHighline.Myfacadeconsistsofblocksextrudedfromagrid.Theblockspushedout the furthest have solar panels placed ontop.Othersolarpanelswereaddedwhere necessary to help gain more energy forthebuilding.
