Athletics Division Highlights ~

New infield mix was added to the infield on softball field number 5, which will improve the playing surface.

Deerslayer obstacle installation began the later part of the month in prepara-tion for the event scheduled for April 16.

Administration Highlights ~

Youth soccer registration is winding down. Added to the spring program this year is a 10-11 year old boys and girls group. As of March 15, 725 children have been enrolled in the program. Without the new age group addition, the program participants increased by 140 this year; out of that number, 105 are in the 3-5 age group.

Late registrations are still coming in for the kickball and youth softball/t-ball programs. Practices for both programs begin the week of March 28.

Adult softball registration will continue until April 4. The season will begin April 18.

Rotary Park pavilion rentals will be open April and May only this rental season due to construction of the boundless playground.

Dashboards for the month of March were completed on March 15.

Parks Advisory Members toured Jacob’s Park at Sinking Creek on March 24.

Johnson City school students enjoyed their spring break week at Memorial Park Community Center the week of March 14. Eighty campers enjoyed swimming, arts and crafts, and outdoor games.

The center hosted City Services Day on March 17 with 25 visitors, some visiting for the first time.

Senior Services hosted a Murder Mystery on March 11 with 56 in attendance.

Recreation Services Division ~ Through a partnership with an ETSU Sports and Leisure Manage-

ment class, all of the trails on Buffalo Mountain Park were prepped and blazed or re-blazed. The students were split into six groups and took to the trails with tools and paint. This accomplished a large amount of work in a short period of time.
