Global warming is the increase of Earth's average surface

temperature due to greenhouse gases, such as carbon

dioxide emissions from burning fossil fuels or from

deforestation, which trap heat that would otherwise escape

from Earth.

According to the Mauna Lao

Observatory in Hawaii in the

Pacific Ocean:

On the 2nd May,2013 after

nightfall shut down

photosynthesis for the day in

Hawaii, Carbon dioxide

levels in the atmosphere

touched 400 parts-per-

million (PPM) there for the

first time in at least 800,000

years.

Parts per million is simply a way of measuring the

concentration of different gases, and means the ratio

of the number of carbon dioxide molecules to all of

the molecules in the atmosphere.

What is the meaning of PPM?

• This is a way of expressing very dilute

concentrations of substances. Just as per cent means

out of a hundred, so parts per million or PPM means

out of a million.

Why is CO2 significant?

• Carbon dioxide (CO2) is the chief greenhouse gas

that results from human activities and causes global

warming and climate change.

• LOW-IMPACT HYDROELECTRIC POWER

• EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES - wave and tidal power

• Government should supply the renewable gas to the

people of the country.

Individually we should at least do what we can to

help reduce, reuse, and recycle what we can as a

first step.

• Compact fluorescent light bulb which saves much energy.

• Cotton bag instead of plastic bag.

• Bicycle for short distance.

• Avoid using wooden articles.

• Follow RRR - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

• Internet, cell phone instead of going to the banks, stations,

markets, etc.

• Walk more & save energy.

• The electric appliances should be switched off instead

to hold it in stand by mode.

• Be sure your recycling is applying at home.

• Covering food when cooking. Use pressure cookers.

• You should wash clothes or dishes in washing

machine or dishwasher only when they are full.

• Dry clothes on a clothes line only.

• Keep your vehicle in good condition.

• Let us grow at least a tree in every houses.

• To stop the forests getting destroyed.
