8 And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

9 And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear.

10 And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.

18 And all who heard it wondered at what the shepherds told them.

19 But Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart.

PRAYER REQUESTS AND NOTICES 20 December 2020

1.GPC 2020 Theme: Word & Evangelising: Scripture: Acts 17: 11 Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.

2.Tuesday Prayer Meeting: Our church will hold our weekly prayer meetings virtually, every Tuesday at 8pm via a WhatsApp broadcast group. The sequence is as follows: Introduction, Songs, Scripture Reading, Prayer items. We hope to have more prayer warriors join us from your individual homes!

The pastoral staff leading the prayer meeting will be sending out the WhatsApp invite link, and we encourage all members to join this group and partake in the church’s prayer ministry!

3.COVID-19: We ask all brothers and sisters to specially pray for Singapore and other countries during this time of need. May the Lord grant us His mercy, compassion and healing.

4.Christmas Sunday cum Holy Baptism Combined Service:

As we celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus, we also thank God and rejoice with all new members who are baptised, confirmed & transferred membership today.

Holy Baptism: We sincerely congratulate and welcome those who are receiving Adult/Infant baptism, confirmation and membership transfer into our big family today.

5.Christmas Celebration 2020:

We will be having our Christmas Celebration on 24 December (Thursday) 8pm, which

will be held online, via YouTube. We will send out the YouTube link to members nearer

the event. Please refer to the separate bulletin announcement for further details.

6.Combined Chinese and English Induction Service: The annual Combined Induction Service will be held on 3 January 2021 at 10am.We ask that all pastors be dressed in the pastoral robes, while preachers, elders and deacons are to be dressed in formal attire (including jackets). Please be seated by 9.50am. Due to the government restrictions on the number of people that can gather together, the Service will be attended by the abovementioned personnel, and will not be open to registration by church members. We seek your understanding on the restrictions.

7.2021 GPC Calendar:

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we will not be giving out Christmas presents

this year. However, the 2021 GPC Calendar is available for collection at the Church

Office from today onwards. Each family is limited to 1 copy. We take this opportunity

to wish all a very blessed Christmas.

8.Change in timing for Worship Services in 2021: In order to accommodate more members returning to church in view of the current government restriction of 100 people per worship service, the combined EDC had, on 4 December 2020, decided that the worship services for 2021 will be amended

as follows: English Service worship will be brought forward to begin at 8.30am, while Chinese Service worship will only start at 11am.

Members may register for these services as per the usual registration process. We will also be able to increase the limit of members attending the service from the current 50 to 100. We ask that all members take special note of this change, and to only start coming To church after 10.30am. Please DO NOT arrive before 10.30am. This is to allow sufficient time for the English Service congregation to disperse and for the church premises to be disinfected before the Chinese Service congregation attends. We seek your kind and strict compliance with the above.

11.Condolence: Our Church member Brother Tan Pek Kiang (father of Brother and father-in-law of Sister ) was called home to be with the Lord on 15 December 2020, aged 88. Wake service were held on 15-16 December 2020 by English service and Chinese service respectively. Funeral Service was held on 17 December. May the abiding peace of our Almighty Lord be the comfort of the bereaved family.

Dear Members of Glory Presbyterian Church，

The Singapore Government announced on 26 Sept 2020 further easing of Covid-19 restrictions, allowing up to 100 attendees at all worship services from Oct 3.

Our church’s application to allow the Chinese and English Services to worship in church has been approved. The Chinese Service is opened for worship with effect from 1 Nov 20. Nonetheless, our online broadcast of Sunday services will continue. We ask that all members inform your family and friends.

Our church will also continue to hold our weekly prayer meetings virtually, every Tuesday at 8pm via a WhatsApp broadcast group, lasting about 30mins. This will allow each of us to join in and pray together in our respective homes. We hope to have more prayer warriors join us!

Rev Tay Hae Dar (the in-charge of our church’s prayer meetings) will be sending out the WhatsApp invite link, and we encourage all members to join this group and partake in the church’s prayer ministry!

We ask everyone to continue to keep our church in your prayers, that He will continue to guide, lead and bless us! For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare
