PROGRAM NOTE

Anthony Iannaccone grew up near the ocean and has always felt very connected to it. Based on a recurring childhood dream, WAITING FOR SUNRISE ON THE SOUND is fueled both by the awesome beauty of the sea and fear of the unknown. Childhood boating trips from Long Island into the Atlantic Ocean occasionally encountered fierce summer storms with waves over twenty feet and relentless pounding rain, turning the boat into an insignficant toy on a vast and omnipotent ocean. For many years Iannaccone had nightmares of being tossed at sea, and just as his fate seemed doomed to drowning, the sun would break through thick mist and the sea would subside, sparkling gently with the radiant energy of the sun.
