My name is Renée Jaeckel and I live

Dogs have been a constant presence

in my life. As a child, I had many

walking adventures with our family

way to sort out the day or to think of

nothing at all. As an adult, walking

my dogs has been a means to

I am with. In September 2016, we

lost Levi, a senior dog we had

probably wouldn't be best with

smaller animals because when I

play...I PLAY! I would be a great

am the perfect snuggle bug! If

you are looking for a silly guy to

keep you entertained I am right

playful but also loving girl I will

be here waing!

All LHS animals are up to date on vaccinations, microchipped and altered before adoption.

See www.lakeshorehumane.org/adopt/ for our adoptable pets.

COMMUNITY SUPPORTMy BFF,

I met Wendy at the Lakeshore Humane Society, Manitowoc,

Wisconsin. She has had a wild and crazy life that led her to

have an anxiety issue. "A very sweet dog, she is a hound dog

aer all." Translated means, she will run at the scent of another

animal. And I mean RUN. Nicknamed, the Escape Arst, she

was returned to the Humane Society on about three occasions

because she ran through electronic collars and over fences.

She was the perfect dog for me, older and wiser. We hit it off

right away. Her first run was because I had her collar lose, she

slipped it and was gone. She learned to get the windows of my

car down and the next thing I knew, looking in my side mirror, there she was, half way out the

window with those big Hound ears flapping in the wind, glad my car has child safety features.

The next full out run was when she learned to open the front door screen on my house. The

last run, I have no clue how she got out, the neighbor called and saw her run by. That was our

first week together. It has go en to be a wonderful experience since then. I am so glad I have

her in my life. She has been the source of great joy. I cannot begin to tell you how glad I am

that we got through the escapes. Will she run again, probably, if given the chance, but the

police and Humane Society know where she belongs, they just call and tell me they have my

escape arst up at the front desk. Thanks to the Lakeshore Humane Society for taking such

good care of her unl her right BFF came along.

COMMUNITY HEROES

On September 15th Lakeshore Humane Society set out for Waukesha Airport to greet ten dogs rescued from the devastaon of Hurricane Irma in FL.

Coordinated through and funded by the HSUS, Wings Of Rescue flew animals to Wisconsin from Florida. The dogs endured a hot and crowded three hour

flight with six other dogs and around 30 cats who were also being picked up by WI shelters. These dogs and cats were Florida shelter animals prior to Irma,

and ge ng them into other shelters across the country opened spaces for other displaced FL animals that, in the midst of disaster, needed refuge in their

local shelter. All of these dogs have been adopted.

LHS's Bully Bash was held at Wenzel's

Perfect World on October 26th.

Parcipants celebrated not only Pitbull

Awareness Day, but also Naonal Adopt A

Shelter Dog Month. Live music was

performed by local band Ne le Hill, and

many dogs came dressed up for the pet

costume contest.

We will connue to shine a spotlight on

our adoptable "pitbull" type dogs, and

celebrate them with other members of

the community who share their love for

the breed.

On October 1st Copps food

Center began handing out the

"WISH LIST" for their stuff-a-van

event to be held on Saturday

October 7th. This gave shoppers

a chance to help out the needy

cri ers, even if they couldn't

make it to the event. It was a

huge success, as the generosity

of the Copps Customers during

the week filled the bin to

overflowing. The response was

amazing. By the me the event

came on Saturday there was a

super start to filling the van! The

customers coming into the store

that day loved meeng the dogs

and responded with even more

love by adding needed items or stuffing our "p" jar! Thanks again for all

generous donaons and for making STUFF-A-VAN a fun day for us volunteers

and puppies!

"Bank First's Custer

Street office was very

excited to help the

Lakeshore Humane

Society with our Make a

Difference Day project

by collecng supplies

and cash donaons.

This project was near and dear to our hearts, as many of our

employees have pets that have been rescued from shelters.

Our "Adopt-A-Pet" event was also a success, as two of our

employees adopted Kels aer vising with her at the bank.

Bank First takes pride in being involved in the communies

in which our customers and employees work & live."

November 12 was TGTW. A silent aucon food & music by "Classic Racket" brought together friends and family to support LHS animals. $7557.21

was raised for the LHS Hope Fund . Thank you to Meat's Opera Haus in St. Nazianz for hosng and to all the donors, volunteers and community

pets and a resource for lost pet owners in Manitowoc

County. When your lost pet is found, he is ensured a safe

and caring environment unl you are together again. Police

have 24 hour-a-day, seven-day-a-week access to LHS.

DID YOU KNOW that LHS members play a vital

role in the success of our mission?

Memberships help us:

• Reunite lost pets with their owners

• Place pets in loving homes

• Provide health care: including vaccinaons,

medicaons and spay/neuter services

• Provide a safe place for owners to relinquish pets.

We cordially invite you to support our mission and become

a member. To join us, please complete the form on page 7

and return with your 100% tax deducble dues in the

provided envelope. If you are wondering if you are already

a member of LHS and want to verify that fact; you can either

look at your name in the mailing address of this newsle er

to see LHS MEMBER before your name or inquire at

[email protected].

We are growing our network even stronger in 2018 to

further support our mission and the animals we serve.

Having acve members enables LHS to be eligible for grants

and addional funding. It is a great me to join the LHS

membership.

It is our goal to ensure that you understand the importance

of membership and realize its significance to our

organizaon.

Note that as of January 2018 the regular monthly board

meengs (3 Tuesday of each month) will be held in therd

Cooperstown room at Holy Family Memorial Harbor Town

Campus.

We are excited to share with you that we are enrolled

as a parcipang organizaon in Thrivent Choice!

Thrivent Choice is a charitable grant program that

allows eligible members to recommend where

Thrivent Financial distributes part of its charitable

outreach grant funds each year. Lakeshore Humane

Society is now listed in the program's searchable

online catalog. If you have any quesons about

Thrivent Choice, please contact a representave

from the Member Connecon Center at 1-800-

THRIVENT (800-847-4836) and say "Thrivent Choice"

at the prompt or email [email protected].

As we prepare for 2018,

you sll have me to make

an end of year tax-

deducble donaon to the

Lakeshore Humane Society.

Your kindness and

generosity helps us care for

the 1,600 plus animals we

see every year.

As we enter the holiday

seasons, please remember

that the animals need your

help as well. Can't think of

what gi to give your

friends and relaves this

year? How about making a donaon gi in their name to

LHS? Start a great family tradion, helping the animals

who are waing for their forever homes.

What do you get for your donaon? Besides the tax

deducon, you get the knowledge and sasfacon that

for every $100 dollars you give, we can provide lifesaving

vaccinaons for four animals. A $250 donaon will pay

for spays/neuters for five animals. Every donaon makes

a difference in the life of a shelter animal.

Thank You, for your interest, your caring and your

support. We appreciate your help and assistance as we

HAPPY TAILS

LHS gets a lot of happy tails pics &

we truly LOVE getting them; this

one just struck us speechless, so

we had to share. This was sent to

us as a little book, and we

reproduced it as best we could. A

picture says a thousand words.

This is why we do what we do…
