PRINCIPAL’S REPORT—WEEK 5

room
6.15pm - Middle School - Years 2 and 3 in the Library

If you have any concerns or need to speak with your child’s teacher contact the school on 69213398 to arrange a convenient time. STUDENT LEADERS
Our Semester 1 SRC representatives and House Captains/Vice Captains will be presented with their badges next Thursday 3rd March at 2.00pm under the COLA. All parents, family and friends of these students are invited to share this special moment with us. SWIMMING CARNIVAL Our annual Swimming Carnival was held at the OASIS last Friday, 19th February. Congratulations to all students who participated and thank you for your wonderful behaviour and sportsmanship. Thank you to Miss Birthisel and Mr Holloway for their organisation of a fantastic carnival. It was great to see so many parents throughout the day and your positive feedback was much appreciated. PARENT ENGAGEMENT AND INVOLVEMENT Last week you would have received a note home asking how you could contribute to our school. Please take some time to complete and return to school as soon as possible. Let’s work together to build our school community for the benefit of all our students. DO WE HAVE YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS? Thank you to all the parents who have supplied a current email address. If you have not provided your email address for newsletter distribution, we would appreciate this as soon as you can. We are aiming to have the newsletter go paperless after Easter this term.

SCHOOL FEES School contributions are now due. Please contribute so that the school can purchase much needed resources to run programs for our students. Our priorities for 2016 include the purchasing of new laptops for students to use in the classroom. Did you know that for every 10 students whose fees are paid (at $45), we can purchase 1 laptop? If all of our 277 families paid their fees we would be able to purchase nearly 30 laptops.
1 student $45 2 students $55 3 or more students $65
Have a great week.

Clean Up Australia Day Friday 4th March 2016
It is that time of year again when Wagga Public School rolls up its sleeves and helps to clean up the local area.
Kinder and Yr. 1 will concentrate on the school grounds. Yr. 2/3 will go for a walk around the streets surrounding the school to
pick up rubbish and Yr. 4/5/6 will head towards the lagoon. Please see your child’s teacher for specific times if you would like to
come and help out.
Please send in a pair of gloves for your child to wear and a plastic bag to collect rubbish in.
Regards
Mr O’Dea
Mrs Tidd

Student Representative Council and House Captains
The Student Representative Council involves a group of students that have been elected by
their peers to represent their class and promote their views on school decision making. As part
of this role, these students will participate in meetings (during school hours) and help to
organise and run school events and fundraisers.
The Sporting House Captains have also been elected for this year and they have already
fulfilled their first important role at the school swimming carnival. House captains are
responsible for leading their house at school sporting carnivals. They help organise posters,
lead cheers and encourage their team members to participate in events. They must
demonstrate good sportsmanship at all times and lead by example.
On Thursday 3rd
March at 2pm (next week) we are holding a special whole school
assembly under the school COLA to present the Semester 1 SRC
representatives and school House Captains with their badges. We invite any
parents, grandparents, family and friends to come along and share this exciting
time with these students.
