The Holy Spirit is moving across Westand Central Africa! Over the past 40 years, theAssemblies of God has grown from some 150,000 tomore than 10 million adherents. And since 1971, WestAfrica Advanced School of Theology has focused onone mission : to train ministers to pursue excellencein the knowledge and skills needed to enable them tocarry out Gods mission ( missio Dei ) to the nations of

the world as Pentecostal servants in the roles of pastor, evangelist, missionary, administrator, and Biblecollege teacher.

    To this end, WAAST emphasizes:

Pentecostal Motivation. WAAST holds thatGods mission is accomplished through Pentecostalservanthood. Thus WAAST seeks to help studentsdevelop three spiritual qualities: 1) a passion for themission of God, 2) a servants heart, and 3) Pentecostalempowerment for holy living and e ffective service.

Preparation for Mission. WAAST offers amulticultural, bilingual campus experience, as studentsfrom all over West and Central Africa study together.Professors from Africa and the West present a widerange of cutting-edge ideas for ministry and missions. This experience better equips servants of God to enter other cultures to fulfill His mission wherever He leads.

Practical Ministry. The typical WAAST student isalready involved in pastoral or other full-time ministry.WAAST's program of block sessions permits studentsto remain in their positions of ministry and to applymore quickly what they have learned.

I have discovered the great importance of the Holy Spirit inmissions. Without the Holy Spirit, missions is practically impossible, because the Spirit of God IS actually the Spirit of missions.

All courses for WAAST's Bachelor of TheologyDegree (129 semester hours) and Post-secondaryDiploma in Theology (96 semester hours) are offeredin both French and English. The programs take 3 yearsto complete. Classes meet in 2 semesters each year: for 9 weeks in March and April, and for 6 weeks in Augustand September. The final semester requiresapproximately 13 weeks at the Lom campus, duringwhich the student completes 18 semester hours. TheBTh program includes the writing of a fifty-pageministry-related thesis.

My life as a missionary is anapplication of WAAST's mission

statement. I have seen there the spirit of sacrifice, determination,

and the importance of training young Christians for the mission. This is a matter of urgency for God.

~Rev. William Agbodjan, AGMissionary from Togo to Niger

Assemblies of God Graduate School of Theology Master of Arts Degree in Missiology

AGGST offers its MA courses in both French andEnglish. Courses are held each year over a 10-week

period, from May through July. Students attend classesfor 3 years, then 1 year is dedicated to the thesis

    project.

The thesis project requires students to apply their course studies to the context of practical ministry.AGGST considers the MA program a part of a lifelong

process of personal development and cultivation of experiences leading to excellence in ministry. Thetheoretical part of the program is intellectuallydemanding, but the application of that knowledge ismuch more challenging!

WAAST's Lom CampusThe campus includes a chapel, library, dining hall, student lounge, administration complex, dormitoriesfor 200 students, classrooms, and faculty housing.
