Our origins

Our origins began from the early 1900’s as two separate bodies to support the development of men’s and women’s golf in Western Australia. Since formally amalgamating in 2011 to form GolfWA, we have been at the forefront of the promotion of golf servicing within the state for over 100 years.

As the chief governing body for the game of golf in Western Australia our key responsibilities are to foster the development and promotion of thegame within the State, and to provide services to our member clubs and their members.

about WA Open

Tournament overview

First played in 1913, this iconic event is one of the longest running golf tournaments in Australia, and has been a launching pad for the careers of many aspiring professionals.

The tournament provides the opportunity for leading amateurs from Western Australian and Australia to pit their skills against seasoned professionals and it stands as one of the best stepping stones toward even greater success for our leading amateurs.

This year, the four day event will be showcased at the tight, beautifully manicured fairways of Royal Perth Golf Club, which was recently awarded the 2016 WA Metropolitan Golf Facility of the Year with the course and clubhouse to provide a wonderful venue for competitors and spectators alike.

• One (1) team of 3 players nominated by you and accompanied by a leading professional are invited to participate in the Sponsors’ Pro-Am morning field to be played on Wednesday, 18th

October 2017 at Royal Perth Golf Club.

• The players will be invited to a light breakfast prior to play and the presentation luncheon held in the clubhouse following play.
